A couple of thoughts. You have a VSP. When you backwash does it kick into priming mode and stay there during the backwash cycle? What RPM is it running at during the backwash? I have seen and have other contacts that have seen sand being blown out of the filter during the backwash cycle...

Older cells actually state 3400 as ideal…..I have one on my pad (2017 mfr date) that states such. Not sure when pentair implemented the change, but I’ve seen 3600 on the newer ones and in current documentation.

Before you fully remove the wing nut, loosen it to the last thread or two. Then knock the bolt forward - you won’t risk losing it in the return. Try and walk it out by rocking it with pliers/channel locks on the wing nut.
