What did you do to your pool today?

Well the answer is today. Pool has been clear for a while, but I’ve been swamped and just managed to swing over for a full detail of the pool. Stir bar was 40 feet across the pool in the opposite shallow end from where I dropped it. The dolphin running must have moved it a “touch”. Original...

Help...Pentair check valve flapper installation question

Most I have installed open somewhere between 1/3 to just under 1/2 way when under pressure, dependent on the flow rate, and location in the system.

    Mysterious pipe

Could be innerduct. Check around your foundation especially near the service entrance for a similar stub out or termination through a wall with the same pipe.

0 CYA and 0 FC. Need advise

Normal operation wouldn't blow media out of the filter, just BW. I've seen it when priming runs about 3400. I don't want to be overly alarmist, but just provide food for thought. You're probably just fine.

10 Day Old IC-40 Just Went Dark

0 CYA and 0 FC. Need advise

A couple of thoughts. You have a VSP. When you backwash does it kick into priming mode and stay there during the backwash cycle? What RPM is it running at during the backwash? I have seen and have other contacts that have seen sand being blown out of the filter during the backwash cycle...

10 Day Old IC-40 Just Went Dark

I just checked the 2024 catalog in the Pentair Partner web portal. It’s still listed in the 2024 catalog as are all the customary replacement parts. It’s now listed as TradeGrade. So it would appear for the time being it’s staying. I may check in with my Pentair rep if I think about it next...

Algea problem - Can't get past cloudy water

Yep it’s likely an SD. You’re just fine…..You scared me referencing the “cartridge”. It’s been a long day……for a DE filter they are called grids and there are multiple grids in a filter with multiple pvc pipes wrapped in a filter fabric that holds the DE. In a cartridge filter the filter it...

Algea problem - Can't get past cloudy water

A StaRite system 3 is a cartridge filter, not a DE filter. You should not be adding DE to it. It will only impede your progress….Do you have a multiport valve? How did you apply the floc, what process did you follow? It may have been floc in your filter that you cleaned not DE. Have you...

    Optimal Salt Level for SWCG

Older cells actually state 3400 as ideal…..I have one on my pad (2017 mfr date) that states such. Not sure when pentair implemented the change, but I’ve seen 3600 on the newer ones and in current documentation.

10 Day Old IC-40 Just Went Dark

Congrats…no doubt you implemented “The Fix” the right way….you know LP blue jumpers and all. 🤣. All kidding aside give us the deets on how you repaired and how easy you found soldering on to the connector.

What did you do to your pool today?

There was a high speed maneuver as I was diving over the coping with my left hand to grab it. I hit it twice, then the slow motion set in as the bar floated towards the bottom. If the HO was watching I’m sure they thought I was crazy as I almost went in the pool. Water was 60 degrees….it...

What did you do to your pool today?

I could barely make out the bar yesterday but couldn’t get it with the vacuum before I stirred debris into solution. I’m guessing 4 days to get it cleared.

What did you do to your pool today?

I dropped my stir bar in the deep end of a new clients algae addled swamp. I cussed, then cried, then ordered 6 more from Amazon. Then channeled my anger at the green monster to destroy it. 🤣

*Rubber Expansion Plugs Stuck in Jets... Need Some Help!

Before you fully remove the wing nut, loosen it to the last thread or two. Then knock the bolt forward - you won’t risk losing it in the return. Try and walk it out by rocking it with pliers/channel locks on the wing nut.

    Vaccuum Port Cover

I can’t find any dimensions in a quick search for the outer diameter of the cover, but you may be able to create a “skirt” that will fit around the outside diameter of the cover. Check the fit inside a 6 inch pvc coupler or pvc pipe. If it fits snug enough that it’s glueable then cut the...

After re-looking at the picture, I’m not thrilled with the orientation. The valve is partially closed to all ports. Now that might be ok, it could be the way the automation had it set at closing. What does that valve feed? It’s tough to tell from the picture. Any details you can provide...

If they were stored dry they are likely trash and you’ll need new ones. The should always be stored in the caps with distilled water at a minimum. Some manufacturers prefer a storage solution. You may check the manual for the system, the may have a rehab process listed for dried probes, but...

    Best way to bypass heater

If your pump supplies over 80 gpm an external bypass is recommended, and the flow to the heater when setting the bypass should be a minimum of 30 gpm for your model HP. There are pressure rated long sweeps available, but you will likely have to order them. Big box store don’t have them for...

Should I put mesh safety cover on after opening

No issues with adding the safety cover back on if you wish. A number of members perform a “soft open” and leave their cover in place for similar purposes. The cover will help in increasing water temp but it’s a crapshoot if it will warm enough for your SWG to work. You can always just pop a...
