First Test & #s are off the charts!

I'm still fighting through the TA / pH back-and-forth but in the meantime I have another question to ask the group: The little cylinder thingy on the pump (that I guess is used to monitor when one needs to backwash?) was pretty green. I don't think it was necessarily the water that was green...

First Test & #s are off the charts!

This helps. I wasn't sure if this was something that takes a couple hours, a couple days, or a week or two.

First Test & #s are off the charts!

I turned my pool slide on to aerate the pool. What's your best guess on how long the slide will need to stay on before the pH drifts back up near 8?

Okie dokie! Starting the process today. Thanks for the explanation!

First Test & #s are off the charts!

I wasn't sure what CSI was and didn't know how to find it. This was helpful Thanks! Thanks @DeanP66 . I haven't been great about keeping my pH in check, so hearing this (i.e. keeping it in the 7.4 range) will motivate me to be more diligent. My TA number has always been crazy high and it's my...

First Test & #s are off the charts!

Well I'm in need of some more advice from my TFP friends @Newdude @Bperry @mguzzy @magiteck . I was in the pool today for the second time this year and my liner feels really rough. It felt the same way the first time I was in the pool about 3 weeks ago. It's not the smooth liner it once was...

First Test & #s are off the charts!

This is helpful. It makes sense, now, that they'd be testing for the same thing, the two different initials just threw me off. Thanks for the "heads up".

First Test & #s are off the charts!

@magiteck - turned SWG off for a day (Thursday afternoon to Friday around 10:00am). So the SWG's been running since Friday morning and my water sample is from this morning. By the way, had a good day of sun on Thursday, and Friday for that matter. Here are the numbers: FC: 14 CC: 0.5 TA: 200...

    Dolphin Cleaner During SLAM

This is somewhat related I suppose, but is it ok to leave the robotic pool cleaner in the pool while treating it (not just during SLAM but if I'm just adding stabilizer or Acid, etc.)?

Skim Doctor 2, good or bad?

@B.Deputy / @omayhemo - What skimmer baskets do you have? I have this one --> Pentair Bermuda --> and the black plastic rods won't fit through the bottom. I also can't take the handle off so if that's a must, I have to get another set of skimmer baskets anyway.

First Test & #s are off the charts!

I wish. Just 64 degrees here. Will see if it works (y) (y) What would I adjust? The Chlorinator Set Point % or do I lower my Salt levels (it's currently reading at 2800 ppm)? It's a learning curve, that's no doubt. You (and everyone else on this thread) have been a lot of help!

Ah, you're right. I'm petty sure I've been told that already too. I'll stop adding. Thanks @Bperry !

First Test & #s are off the charts!

@magiteck - performed OCLT and here are my results: Yesterday @ 8:40pm / Today @ 7:40am (sun doesn't start hitting my pool until about 8:15am) FC: 12 / 11 CC: 0.5 / 0.5 TC: 12.5 / 11.5 So a drop of 1ppm. From reading, it needs to be 1 or less so I'm assuming I'm good but will take...

First Test & #s are off the charts!

@magiteck - Will do the OCLT tonight and report back tomorrow morning. @mguzzy - thanks! Any thoughts on what my Chlorinator Set Point % should be set at? It's at 65% now. Does that need adjusted during the Spring/Summer?

First Test & #s are off the charts!

++ Added Dry Stabilizer to increase CYA & Added 31.45% (20° Be) Muriatic Acid to drop pH. ++ Added it this afternoon around 3:00pm CDT and took a sample of my pool water for testing at 8:15pm CDT. Updated Logs: pH: 7.5 Cl: 5 (this is probably 5+) FC: 10 --> it's been pretty cloudy these last...

@Bperry how do I get FC around 5-6ppm when there’s no chemical to reduce it? My reading yesterday had my FC at 10.5.

First Test & #s are off the charts!

I've attached my very first logs (as were labeled in my first post). FC - There's no chemical to lower Free Chlorine levels. So there's nothing I can do about this apparently. pH (image attached) - Add Muriatic Acid (not sure if it'll be the 29% or the 14.5%, will change accordingly) TA (image...

First Test & #s are off the charts!

@magiteck 1) Test kit is a TF-Pro w/ Smart Stir (you asking that reminded me to put that info in my signature (y)) 2) "Add a bit more CYA" - According to the ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry, I need to add Stabilizer to increase my CYA. I watched the Pool Chemicals for Beginners: Understanding...

First Test & #s are off the charts!

Thoughts? Just do as the recommendations say? Is there an order I should do them in? ph: 8.2 (if not higher than that) Recommended - 5lbs, 7oz Dry Acid Cl: 5 Br: 10 (both Cr and Br seemed even darker than those corresponding numbers, along with the pH) FC: 10.5 CC: 0.5 TC: 11 CH: I couldn't...

Pool Newbie | Please Help w/ balancing water

Will do! Do I add chlorine by adding salt and letting the generator produce it or do I add liquid chlorine? If liquid chlorine, what brand and where to buy? So what’s the point of the SWG? To just keep it around 3200 ppm so it produces enough chlorine that I don’t have to add liquid chlorine...

Pool Newbie | Please Help w/ balancing water

Thanks to the both of you for replying. I bought the TF-Pro Salt with Smart Stir for pools with SWG test kit. kellyfair - the pool kit the builder left is a “Pool Style 3-way Test Kit.” I’ll use the Pool Math calculator to get help on how much chlorine to add until the new kit arrives...
