I have brushed and the robot runs every other day

I tested with the pentair cya test kit. Both times

I had tested CYA maybe 3 or 4 weeks ago at close to 60. We have had some rain and some heavy rains lately, and i had to drain out some water (2 inches or so), but now the CYA s testing at 30. That seems pretty drastic as half the pool did not drain and refill. Does that sound normal? 13k Pool...

@magiteck Thats my current plan. The chlorine is obviously being consumed after about a day so i wanted to make sure that CYA was still protecting it. Seems like im adding liquid chlorine almost everyday now.

ack, i feel like i have everything wrong! To sum it up, low speeds will skim just fine and i only really need a higher speed to get flow through the chlorinator when im using tabs. If im not using tabs, run low speed for longer. Any guesstimates on whats an appropriate low speed? My low is 1700...

Well it looks like i can run longer at a lower speed and not worry about the chlorinator for now. One more point...when you add muriatic acid or anything other than chlorine, i would assume you run the pump faster?

Excellent information, thank you. My start up and pool school explained it needed to run high speed to get enough flow into the Chlorinator, and the rule of thumb was run it 1 hour for every 10 degrees of temp. It wasnt clearly explained if that was high speed or a combo of low and high. Im not...

But on a non salt water pool, pouring chlorine and running the pump at lower speed would still disperse the poured chlorine efficiently?

And skimming most likely equals high speed for a certain amount of time?

Forgive me newness, can you define skimming? I assume its pulling enough water through the skimmers to to circulate the water but how would i determine that number? Is it how many times over the full 13k is cycled?

Just curious if poured sodium hypochlorite is protected by existing pool cyanuric acid or if that only the chlorine from the tabs it comes from is conditioned?
