Recommend a slide for our pool, please

I haven't tried it myself, but any spiral slide is going to have a slower exit than a straight-shot slide of the same height, just due to the more complex geometry and friction. Still, the G-Force has been pretty popular among our customers' kids. The S.R. Smith "heliX" is the competitor to...

New Kreepy Krauly Kruiser or Baracuda G3

Some folks swear by the MX8, but in general, the G3 is better reviewed, and you're right about parts--for the most part, it's a replacement diaphragm from time to time. The MX8 is a little better at larger debris (leaves, etc.), which can get stuck in the G3 diaphragm, and I have one friend who...

    Polaris booster pump

Just out of curiosity, is it the standard PB4-60, or the "ultra quiet" PB4-60Q? The Q has had a few negative reviews, but the standard seems pretty universally loved, so if yours is a Q, you might be better off with the standard one.

    Pool Twister for Suction Cleaners

Some folks like them, but the first step is to make sure that your hoses aren't developing memory, which will cause your cleaner to track unevenly. If you lay the hose sections out, are they still straight, or are they starting to bow? If they are, stretching the hose out to its full length...

May move to Robotic cleaner from Polaris

The middle video is about as much as we saw it do, locking one wheel and driving the other. It looked pretty chaotic in our pool, as you can see, but I think that's just because it's just a 12' AG, which wasn't the cleaner's natural habitat.

May move to Robotic cleaner from Polaris

Ok, so we have two cell phone shots from Blake and myself, and our videographer was kind enough to toss together a rough demo using the actual underwater camera, just for the sake of this thread. Good question! I'll have Blake find out, and schedule getting another video shot for it, as we just got our hands on them.

    outdoor bbq gazebos

I've been looking at similar structures for my bbq and electric smoker, but the trouble has been that they don't provide a ton of coverage in the weather I'm most worried about--storms. If you get much wind with your rain, you have to be pretty careful setting up to keep the gear from getting...

May move to Robotic cleaner from Polaris

We've been testing the 9400 for a week or so, and it does seem more agile than the 9300. It's the successor to the 9300, not the 9300xi, so if you're in the situation RobbieH is describing, and need a remote, the xi is still the only Polaris in the family with one.

I think you'll find TFP is an excellent resource. Lots of folks with a ton of experience in here, so I certainly end up spending a lot more time reading than posting.

Is this a decent pool?? Complete newb, first pool possibly

Re: Is this a decent pool?? Complete newb, first pool possib We've had great luck with Sharkline. I'd agree with cramar, for sure. They also make a hybrid steel and resin pool (Venture and Matrix lines). The top rails and uprights would be made from resin, while the walls are galvanized...

    Tangled cord

If the hose is tweaked when you get the cover off, stretching it out to its full length and letting it dry in the sun a day should help straighten it back out. That can happen if it's stuck in a particular position, especially cold, for a long period.

    Replacement cleaner recommendations.

Yeah, the 280 is extremely popular. If it's getting the hose knotted up, you can probably reduce the frequency by verifying the length of the hose, and if the hose has developed a memory, stretching it out to its full length and letting it sun dry for a day should help return it to normal.

    Rain maintenance during winter

Absolutely. Minimizing the amount of time your closed pool is subject to warm weather is definitely a good way to help reduce algae issues. I've read a lot of positive reviews of the AquaPill WinterPills, too. I couldn't find any consensus on the forum (the only mention is a reference to the...

He changes the water ONCE a year

It can be quite unsanitary, actually. I recommend spa owners change their water about every 3 months. During regular spa use, non-organic contaminants (like perspiration, body oils, personal care products, sunscreen, and worse) will build up in the water. Letting these byproducts, referred to...

Recommend a slide for our pool, please

The Inter-fab G-Force and the S.R. Smith Turbo Twister were the most popular last summer with our customers by a long shot. Both brands are well-liked, so it's more a matter of finding what style you're interested in (spiral, turn direction, color, etc.). Those two are both great kids'...

Best reasonably priced vacuum for pebble sheen pool?

I'd heard of them getting stuck like that, so I looked it up... I stand corrected! bobodaclown's quite right. Back on the MX8, despite mostly positive reviews, one of the negative ones was: It's still a fairly rare complaint, but someone else pointed out another thought: Even if Zodiac is...

Best reasonably priced vacuum for pebble sheen pool?

The mx8 should be fine on pebbletec. If you want to move to a robot, the Blue Diamond is pretty popular, as are Dolphins and Aquabots. I've noticed several recommendations for smartpool on the forum, but from what we've heard (and seen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7aYwTYO80ko) they can...

Would you mind looking over a pool quote?

Would your builder install options you don't buy through them? Many don't, but if yours will, you can probably find a few ways to get a little more out of the build. Of course, these are almost certainly installed prices, so you'll want to keep that in mind if you do shop around on any...

    Hayward 925ADV Any Good?

The Baracuda G3 is much more popular, also connects directly to a skimmer, and is less than $300. They'll occasionally need a replacement diaphragm, but that's usually it. The Navigators can sometimes rack up higher parts costs over time (according to reviews we've received), and is about $70...
