Softub motor cycling on and off repeatedly

Thank you Olivier1, that worked!!! We installed capacitors as shown in your picture last night, and this morning it seems to be holding temperature just fine. Wow! I'll continue to check it and update on its performance.

Pre-2009 Unused Softub filters to give away

I ordered the wrong replacement filters online. The seller refunded me and told me not to bother shipping them back, so I have two replacement filters for the older (pre-2009) model Softub hot tub if anyone wants. If you are in Seattle, we can arrange in person pickup. If you live elsewhere, you...

Softub motor cycling on and off repeatedly

Update: the house has lots of shared circuits. Fridge shares one with lots of other lights and outlets. There's one for an electric wall heater that is no longer needed that we might be able to repurpose to get a dedicated circuit for the tub though. Thanks for the help!

Softub motor cycling on and off repeatedly

We don't have a microwave but the fridge idea is a good one, we'll look into that for testing. Thanks

Softub motor cycling on and off repeatedly

We put the voltmeter between the hot tub power cable and the extension cord. (The voltmeter is too wide to connect directly to the outdoor outlet since the outdoor outlet has a waterproof cover).

Softub motor cycling on and off repeatedly

Thank you, I think you're right about the low power situation. As mentioned, it was inherited from the previous homeowner and so we assumed the obvious outlet near the tub on the deck was the right place to plug it in, but upon further testing it turns out that circuit also powers the lights and...

Softub motor cycling on and off repeatedly

I don't know how to open it up, might require draining the tub? My hypothesis now is that the temperature sensor is faulty. I turned off the tub overnight and started it today so it had to gain about 10°. Watching the temperature display it changes quite rapidly, within a few seconds it will...

Softub motor cycling on and off repeatedly

Thanks! Here are pictures. It is not especially cold- in the 30s overnight and up to 50 during the day. I am not sure where the temperature sensor is located.

Softub motor cycling on and off repeatedly

We have a 220 gallon Softub recently inherited from the previous owner of our house, and just got it set up and running. The motor is turning off and on frequently and we're looking for advice. The pump runs continuously as desired until the hot tub reaches the set temperature (100), after...

    Fill hot tub with rainwater?

Interesting points, thanks! Also did the math and realized it's <$10 to fill it from the hose, so that's negligible compared to everything else and doesn't warrant investing in a rain barrel and gutter system.

    Fill hot tub with rainwater?

Hi, we are new hot tub owners- hot tub came with the house and we are just learning the basics. Wondering if it is a good or bad idea to use rainwater to fill the tub, assuming we would get a rain barrel and collect rain off the roof of the house (typical shingle roof) and run it through a...
