Glacier Pool Cooler with Omnilogic Automation DIY in Louisiana

I’ve been giving this some thought as well lately. There’s even another thread on TFP discussing this topic that I’ve been following, but I haven’t seen a viable solution proposed just yet. You could hypothetically use an HVAC float switch which are very cheap, but how to wire that in to your...

Whelp, that’s good to know, as mine is definitely not plumbed like that :)

Glacier Pool Cooler with Omnilogic Automation DIY in Louisiana

I checked my Glacier model manual and couldn’t find the requirement for the T to be vertical at the suction side of the pump. Honestly, i can’t see it making a difference if you plumb it in vertically vs horizontally to run the new PVC to the chiller outlet, particularly as you’re planning...

Glacier Pool Cooler with Omnilogic Automation DIY in Louisiana

I skimmed the Hayward manual and believe that heater/cooler/solar config only provides for one valve designation, not two. You can check this by walking through the config on your controller. The manual does seem to only indicate one. Worst case, I believe you can splice the two valves together...

New Hayward Omni Firmware Update Available

MSP v5.0 release notes are up: Release Notes R5.0.0 Only significant note is support for a Remote Configuration module to allow remote configuration changes by Hayward pool professionals. Wish this was a capability opened to consumers!

    Pool Pump Cost Software

Just came across this! I’m using an Emporia Vue Gen 2 power monitor to measure the various devices in my pool. This functionality isn’t part of the omnilogic controller. Here’s a link to the Vue if it’s something you’d like to consider...

We Have a Winner! TFP Pool of the Month (July 2023); Theme - Pets

Thank you all so much! So many great shots of everyone’s pets enjoying their pools; this theme is always my favorite! Our little doxie Cocopuffs was wagging her tail and running laps when I told her the news (and begging for food) 😜 Here’s a few more of her enjoying the summertime; she...

    Glacier Pool Cooler - Help

You’re reading this correctly; you always want flow from the filter inlet through to the heater and back to the pool at all times, then only have the actuator either fully open or fully close the line out to the cooler. Depending on your plumbing, you may need to set the actuator to make a 180...

    OmniLogic All stop

The OmniLogic has an External Input Interlock contact that can be used to configure software interlocks to shutdown equipment of your choice; maybe this is what you’re referring to? You could certainly use this to implement an emergency stop switch if you wanted to. In my example case, I have a...

    Hayward Omnilogic integration flaws

From what I’ve experienced of the freeze protect functionality, once the air temp crosses below the protect setpoint, the controller ignores all pump schedules and enters freeze protect mode. Once the temp the rises above the set point, it should then return to any programmed schedules. If there...

Over the Air Updates - Hayward Omnilogic

@Mpal Hayward’s cloud servers do have downtime every so often; often enough that maybe once a week I’ll see similar, where you make a control change from the app and nothing happens, or it takes 30 seconds, etc. this obviously makes diagnosing whether this is a local issue or a cloud issue...

Home Assistant / Hayward Omni Local Control

Currently out of town so have only had a little bit of time to play with the local integration. So far it’s a great implementation; all of my equipment came in immediately, seems to have a majority of the functionality as the cloud one, plus a bit more though still missing a few niche options...

    Glacier Pool Cooler - Help

No problem; I went through a lot of research setting mine up too. The fan has nothing to do with the wands. Water flowing into the cooler with enough pressure will cause the wands to rotate. As they rotate, water will stream out of holes along each wand and drip down into the basin. You’re...

    Glacier Pool Cooler - Help

@Treetopp based on your model number, the spray wands should make one full rotation 7-12 times per minute. You should have a sight glass on the side of the unit that you can pop off to time the rotations. You then open or close the inlet valve to adjust the speed. If water is splashing out of...

    Glacier Pool Cooler - Help

Did you happen to check how fast the wands are turning, and does the basin fill completely then drain completely when the sump pump starts? Believe this cycle should be about every 1.5 to 2 minutes or so, depending on your model.

    Glacier Pool Cooler - Help

Checked my Glacier today and the fan definitely blows out through the top. Nearby in south Louisiana; it's noon right now, current air temp is 92, water temp is 89, and the chiller is outputting 84. That's only a 5 degree decrease, but is not surprising given the ongoing heat wave. Reminder that...

Hayward Universal ColorLogic 4.0 12v replacement options??

Andy, If you do want to stay with the Hayward, you can get replacements at Sunplay; I’ve grabbed a couple from there: Hayward ColorLogic 320 LED Light W3LACUS11050 - 50 Foot Cord If you do want to consider a third party options, take a look at these. Note that you won’t be able to use...

Run VSP to flow rate with OmniLogic

@PWTE anecdotally in regards to the OmniLogic’s capabilities, it is not possible to start equipment or to set speed based on an external input. The only option to control equipment, aside from the built in controls and schedules, is via interlock, which is not really usable for the type of...

Hayward - wiring new heater to Omni

No special wiring harness needed, and the Omni hooks up via 2-wire. You can grab 20-22 AWG from Home Depot and wire from the heater harness to any of the low voltage relays on the Omni. Once you program the Omni to add the heater, don’t forget to put the heater in Bo remote control mode per the...

    OmniPL compatible pool lights

My pool is about two years old with four Hayward ColorLogic lights; unfortunately I’ve had to replace two to-date as the contractor installed what I found to be a used light on one niche, and damaged the cord on another. Each pull was about 75 feet or so, and pulling the cable through the...

    Hayward Omnilogic Firmware Upgrade message??

Version 4.7.0 is the latest release, and v4.4.1 was an older version in 2022; not sure why the system triggered an update notice, but I would definitely recommend not attempting to downgrade and just ignore it. I’d assume this was just an error pushed out by Hayward’s server that will clear soon.

Hayward heat pump and Omnilogic integration

If I’m reading the release notes right, the Omni will send an on/off, a temp set point, and possibly a speed setting via silent mode assuming the heater is configured as a smart heater. The published Omni manual doesn’t have the new configuration options for smart variable heaters, but this...
