    1st Test, 1st steps

Pool Math tells me I need 11lbs of Calcium Chloride to take me from 175ppm -> 250ppm. I'll split applications of it over today and tomorrow. Any concerns with me adding CYA via sock at the same time? I've been averaging 3ppm FC drop per day - pool gets 100% sun. Hoping taking CYA to 50 will cut...

    1st Test, 1st steps

Will be getting CYA to 50 in the next day or two, pending purchase. Copy on pH - was a little surprised to see the .4+ gain. The only thing I can think of is my spa spillover into the pool during the pump / cleaning cycle, otherwise zero aeration right now. Is it recommended or even possible to...

Test from this morning. Hadn't touched MA yet until after these test results. Applied ~40oz of MA to drop pH to 7.4 range. Will test against tonight. FC - 7 pH - 8.2+ TA - 140 CH - 175 CYA - 25 CSI .63

Yup, have a plumbed auto fill. Source of water is t’d off the main in the front of the house and run specifically for pool and irrigation through a separate regulator / backflow. I could do a standalone unit as I have power readily available but we’re on septic, no tie in nearby. Will check out...

We do but I don’t think there is any reasonable way to connect them without an unsightly line across the property. It would be a 120ft run, minimum, with lots of obstructions. Does FC loss become stable enough where I can move to testing every couple of days and rely on a standard add? Or are...

Alright - Most recent test. I ran pH, TA and CH twice. Had my wife act as another set of eyes on the pH. Clearly I misread the first round and appears I didn’t take TA to the end as well. ------------------------------------------ Test Results 06-03-2024 @ 08:36 PM...

    1st Test, 1st steps

Appreciate the dialogue on thread. Nice to read through everyone’s thought process. I’ll get FC to 6ppm tonight and then do a full test. I’m fairly certain I took both to the end but we shall see. Testing for OCLT just needs to be after sun down and before sun up, correct?

FC - 1.5 CC - Didn't test yet. pH - 7.2 TA - 110 CH - 175 CYA - Didn't test yet. Step 1: Adding another 30oz of liquid chlorine to bring it to 3ppm. Step 2: Acid to lower TA? Step 3: Aerate overnight to raise pH back up?

My add of 3lbs, 14oz was the pool math rec against 15,500 gallons -> 30 CYA. I was more so thinking about testing for FC levels. Given I added chlorine before CYA was ~30.

Fill has officially finished. 13.5 hours, not too bad. I have the filter and the IFS running for additional agitation. Assuming I test when the CYA was completely dissolved?

Chemical Additions: Dry Stabilizer - 3lbs,14oz Granules are split across two cheese cloth bags I had laying around. Since i'm not running the pump yet and still filling, thought throwing it in front of the hoses made the most sense. Probably <90 minutes until pool is at level.

Have 1 hose on the big landing which covers the entire area and stairs. Have another spraying in the spa. Will periodically take the spa hose and spray down walls in the main pool as necessary. Thank you all for the wisdom.

My signature was incorrect. I have pebbletec, not plaster. Unsure if this changes things. Nonetheless refill is underway. About 40% filled. Will grab some granular stabilizer this AM.

Thanks @mknauss for the quick response. Just wanted to confirm, there is no need to pressure wash or anything of the sort while I have it drained?

FC - 1.5 CC - 0 pH - 8.2+ A - 200 CYA - 0 CH - 1200 I just got my TF-Pro kit. Tested CYA twice. All last year I used 73% hypo to chlorinate the pool and very rarely used pucks. Uneducated decision which led to the CH being sky high. I have been dealing with a yellowish algae, only kept away...
