    Skimbot First Impressions

Yes. Those sensors are protected much better on the Skimbot. There are 4 sensors—2 above water and 2 just below or at water line. The ones above water line are protected by a thin rubber bumper and the ones below are recessed since they are on the front of the pontoons. I do want to note that I...

    Skimbot First Impressions

@z3540i thank you so much for your perspective. We also settled on Skimbot over Ariel because it navigates our vacuum hose much better. It does get clogged when we have breezy days. It is easily cleared. I also hope the gears don't get stripped, but the paddle doesn't seem to be stuck down hard...

    Skimbot First Impressions

@z3540i great review. The skimbot was recommended to me because it plays well with the floating vacuum hose. It definitely does. My pool is clean to boot. I get a lot of pollen and see no difference from the larger mesh. (Ariel and Betta have finer mesh.) it’s also quiet. It did get jammed a...

Battle of the Solar Skimmers: Ariel vs Betta 2 Bake off!!!

For some reason (likely user error), I didn’t see your “spoke too soon” comment above. I hope you get help calling them. As far as turning off the unit—holding the power button won’t turn it off?

Battle of the Solar Skimmers: Ariel vs Betta 2 Bake off!!!

I also want to say they appear to have addressed the leaking with the 2023 model. They never should have released a version with this vulnerability.

Battle of the Solar Skimmers: Ariel vs Betta 2 Bake off!!!

You’re right. I’m hoping the recent issues with CS are temporary. Calling seems to work better. The number is in the manual. I was persistent and they did get on the ball after a delay. https://solarbreeze.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/1500013043241-The-Manual-The-How-To-s-and-The-Don-t-do-s-

Battle of the Solar Skimmers: Ariel vs Betta 2 Bake off!!!

The manual has a contact phone number. https://solarbreeze.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/1500013043241-The-Manual-The-How-To-s-and-The-Don-t-do-s- Call and leave a message. They are usually very responsive but weren’t for a short while a couple of weeks ago (I was contacting them same time as...

Battle of the Solar Skimmers: Ariel vs Betta 2 Bake off!!!

FYI they addressed this with the newer 2023 model. Mine was out in some serious storms in California this year.

    Need new Solar Skimmer

Possibly you misunderstood me. I actually did repair it as long as I could and it worked for a long time. Eventually, it completely wore out. The plastic that you would mount things to started cracking due to age. We even glued that for a while. The battery was also aging rapidly.

    Need new Solar Skimmer

Please see my write up about this robot, my issues, their amazing service and the new Skimbot here I agree the fine mesh on the Skimbot may be problematic during pollen season but that part seems to be fine now.

Battle of the Solar Skimmers: Ariel vs Betta 2 Bake off!!!

Ha! More to my saga. Excellent journaling of your experience @Surf NH! Things that happened to me similar to you: When my water level is high after rains, I have had issues with any pool robot getting stuck under coping etc but now my pool water is adjusted to a good height and the Ariel can...

Battle of the Solar Skimmers: Ariel vs Betta 2 Bake off!!!

The 2023 Ariel is a big improvement in terms of battery time etc. Here's my review from another thread: Any long term users of the Ariel SolarBreeze

Any long term users of the Ariel SolarBreeze

I am a long-time user of the Solar-Breeze products. I had the original NX, NX2, original Ariel, and the 2023 Ariel. The 2023 Ariel is amazing. It runs all day and into the night. It is very reliable and seems to be very durable. Using sensors, it turns readily when reaching edges of pool and...

Solar Breeze Skimmer dead in 30 days

The Ariel is working well for me. I’m a long-time customer of this company. I’ve done several warranty claims with Solar-Breeze over the years. They do tend to take a few days to respond. I do recommend you follow-up with a call to the number in the manual.

Need to replace zodiac clearwater LM2-40

Thanks for the detailed advice. It turns out that the LM2-40 was always a bit undersized for my pool. The entire box needed replacement. It was truly fried. My control panel was installed in a very protected location under a roof overhang on the north side of a building. As you said, it was...

Need to replace zodiac clearwater LM2-40

My pool started looking cloudy over the last day or so and I discovered to my horror—no Chlorine. Good news is no Combined Chlorine (phew!) I went back to check the saltwater chlorinator. The cell looks great. It’s practically brand new. The controller for the chlorinator however….is dead. The...

High TA, CH but pool looks great

Update--The RO was done last Monday. He actually overshot a little, bringing my TA and CH quite low. I pushed them both up plus added some liquid chlorine right away. After a few days balancing, and adding CYA and salt as well. I've posted my log after the filtering and the most recent log today...

High TA, CH but pool looks great

All good thoughts. It's not really the cost. It would be cheaper to drain and refill half the water. I always get nervous about my plaster though when I've done that in the past. It's getting older and I'm afraid of cracks etc. Even though it's drought here, the water table is fairly high where...

High TA, CH but pool looks great

My fill water is: TA 180, CH 150, PH 7.8. I’m concerned about high TA. I’m wondering if I should just go with RO treatment.

High TA, CH but pool looks great

I scheduled the RO service but it's $$$ and won't happen until June. My husband and I are toying with water exchange. Fill water is TA 180, CH 150, PH 7.8. Not great, but I can make that work. I think the water will cost around $300 and we are only on voluntary restrictions right now.

Draining Pool Due to High CYA, TC, CH....what to do with water once refilled

I have a similar issue in Northern California. My pool has been high with CH around 700-800 every year and every winter I get rainwater dilution which lowers it again to start the season. This year not so much. Now my CH is 1200. We are in drought so I am paying for an RO purification service to...

    Calcium hardness

I run the alternative test for high CH. The asterisked part below. Calcium Hardness Test 1. Rinse and fill large comparator tube to 25 mL mark with water to be tested.* 2. Add 20 drops R-0010. Swirl to mix. 3. Add 5 drops R-0011L. Swirl to mix. If calcium hardness is present, sample will turn...

High TA, CH but pool looks great

The winter rain usually takes care of the issue for me. I’m looking into RO service in the area and I think I found one. For making the TA adjustment, I’ll definitely measure frequently. I left the waterfall and aeration/jet pump on overnight and plan on remeasuring tomorrow. I’ll add more acid...

High TA, CH but pool looks great

I’m looking into an RO service. Also descaling my saltwater chlorinate. I don’t have a water softener for my home. Thank you.
