    Heat pump cost estimates

Hey all, I'm in CT with a 37,500 gallon in ground pool. When I built the pool I had a dedicated 220v 50amp circuit pre ran for a future heat pump. I'm curious as to what you all see for your running costs to keep your pool around 82 in Connecticut for the season. I run my pump about 8 hrs...

    Heater for large pool

I know this is old but I'm in your situation and would love to know what you estimate your running costs to be to have the heater run all season. Also do you run your pump longer to make this work? I currently am in CT and run my pump around 8 hrs a day. I have 37,500 gallons approximately...

This is fantastic, thank you for these links! Math on the propane shows almost 6k in heating expense for May to September to maintain 82 degrees. Even if i only heated in june and september its nearly 3k in propane costs. Then with the heat pump to raise the pool 10 degrees i need an...

    Rockys 5A Cover

Problem is i run off of propane and when i built the pool last year i didnt plumb for a gas heater i always planned on a heat pump based on how much more energy efficient they are. My neighbors have a propane heater and never use it because its like $50 a day for them to run. I figured the...

    Rockys 5A Cover

Thanks newdude. I'd like to see a "slip over" cover that doesnt require velcro down the full seam...i found the same covers you had but was hoping for this slip over style to make it easier to cover it all quickly and start swimming with the kids. in regards to "generating heat" all...

    Rockys 5A Cover

Hey everyone, been searching the site and i've read a few things... 1) i need to COVER the solar cover when it's rolled up while not in use because the sun hitting the rolled up and wet cover will make it "cook itself". My pool is entirely in the sun...so i would think i'd need to cover the...

    Coping Base

Good afternoon everyone, We installed our inground pool last year and have already fenced it in. We could not afford the coping/patio until this upcoming year and now need to tackle that. We have a double roman 40'x20' steel wall/vinyl liner pool and about 6" to 8" of processed stone prepped...

    Give up and close?

Another option is to buy a robot that runs on electricity to clean your pool. I have one and love it. Puts no pressure on my pump and don't need a separate line to use it just an outlet.

Should I shell out for an expensive cover?

I also have a new pool 40*20. You can't use a regular tarp which is what you most likely saw at hd. I bought my solid (non safety) pool cover from ocean state for $140. It's 50' x 30' and designed for pools. Good luck!

Rusting Walls After 1.5 years? Normal?

Did your installer line the walls with styrofoam to sit between your panels and liner? Obviously I don't see it in the photos did you take it all off when they removed the liner? Good luck on the rust protection problem I feel terrible for your situation

Confusing info on water level for pool closing.... clarifications please

Just use two people to close. Plug the lines while the other guy is blowing out. Only a little water will get into your return line and then add antifreeze. That's what I'm doing. Water level is very high in my pool when closing almost covering the Skimmer opening. My pool guy says in our...

Why do they not make winter covers with drains?

My pool guy had my buy and use a solid cover but he also made me keep the water level in the pool very high maybe two or three inches below the trim. The cover is laying on top of the water surface with water blocks holding it down. For extra security I have hammered rebar all around and tied...

Winterizing conduit for my low voltage LED lights

Thanks you confirmed what I was thinking. I'll lower the water level to drain them and blow them out. Then cap and put some antifreeze in lines for good measure.

In-line vs. off-line chlorine feeder dilemma

My pool is larger than yours 36k. But I have 2" pipe all around pool equipment and 1.5 inch return and drain lines. The in line chlorinator has 1.5 inch plumbing so I went with offline to avoid a bottle neck like you described.

Help on how to prep for coping install around a steel panel pool

I would only be able to connect the grid at one point to the existing loop, the ladder loop/copper is still exposed. All other wire is buried. So if i were to use this metal mesh under the pavers all around the pool, say one strip worth, can i tie those all together with metal ties and then...
