Is it possible my filter lets stuff back in my pool?

Re: Is is possible my filter lets stuff back in my pool? Forgive my ignorance, but wouldn't it happen a lot more frequently if it was channeling?

Is it possible my filter lets stuff back in my pool?

Re: Is is possible my filter lets stuff back in my pool? Well the sand was replaced at the end of august, and the filter is just now a year old. So I think that would rule that out. How do I check the main valve? Another question would be if it is the valve how does that explain it only...

Is it possible my filter lets stuff back in my pool?

It only happens from time to time after I vac or switch the pump speed from low to high and even then not every time. I thought I had an issue with my filter last year and had the pool company come check it under warranty. They thought maybe it was letting some of the sand back through, but...

    CYA

Yes the water was 57% when I tested. I still have trouble doing the cya test for some reason. I have taken probably 30 of them and watched the videos and I always have trouble deciding when I can see a the black dot ever so faintly. lol. How much difference does temp make? And no I haven't...

    CYA

Ok I need some advice. Good news first. Pulled my cover off this weekend and water was crystal clear and still had FC of 6! I was pumped. Now to more disturbing news. Last year I got pool stored and ended up with my CYA off the charts. So long story short got my CYA down to 70-80 last year...

    Closing for the winter???

I am about to start the winterizing procedure for my pool as soon as the water temp gets low enough and I have a couple of questions. First, when it says remove multi-port/spider gasket, what is the spider gasket? I know what the mult-port valve is and according to the pool company I can leave...

    Found Algea around steps

Just an update I allowed the FC to go down to 21 so that the boys could swim at the team party and vacuumed the stuff of the floor before they got there. The pool was decently clear but not crystal clear. It did get cloudy with the 12 boys in there and then began to clear late last night. I...

    Found Algea around steps

Yes it does just puff into a cloudy dust when I brush it. So it may benot just deadpuff algae, but i have brushed and vacuumed many times the past week. I went ahead and went to the pool store and bought some algaecide and put it in now. We just got an inch of rain here ! Yay we really needed it.

    Found Algea around steps

I only have one return and it is pointed downwards. I have been brushing at least once a day on the entire pool, and usually hit the parts that I can see algae in 2 or 3 times a day. When I brush it up it tends to dust up into a green cloud and then disperses. The water no longer has the...

    Found Algea around steps

Ok starting to get frustrated now please help. Last Sunday morning I passed over night chlorine loss test I lost .5 and my pool was fairly clear. So I allowed my FC level to move back down never letting it get below 6.5 which should be ok since my cya is 70. Tuesday night I noticed that I had...

    Found Algea around steps

Well I guess since I am at shock level even with my cya level being high I will keep it up until it clears up and only use bleach from now on. I hate to drain again with about a month left in the season. I am glad to get my test kit, hopefully I don't ever have to depend on a pool store to...

    Found Algea around steps

I have read pool school and I just received my test kit that is how I got the cya test. I have also read the shocking process and I am now switching to bleach. I have shocked the pool and can keep it up, but I was wondering if that High level of chlorine could and clowdy water could mess with...

Thanks in advance for the help. I found some algae around the steps of my in ground pool. From reading on here I realized I needed to shock the pool. I am using pucks and bagged crystal shock from the pool store.( I know I am going to switch to the BBB method soon) Since all I could test...

    Liner problem??

The cove appears to be fine. It is just happening around the deck so I am assuming it is from the kids jumping of the rail. I am not sure though.

    Liner problem??

My liner appears to have slipped down a little bit in a couple of spots. Is this a major issue and if so how can I fix it?. I have tried to just push it back up with my hand but I can't get it back up enough to catch the lip. Thanks

A few more Bromine related questions

I have seen the ref to "bather load" as every person soaking in a hot (100-104f) spa, but what if the temp is 90-99f?

    New to Spa....and clueless!

I have only had a spa for a little over a month, but mine has continious ozone also and I assume that is what you are talking about with 24 hour filtration. If that is the case then you should see water and bubbles coming from your ozone jets. Hope that helps.

Brand New Spa newbie! Need help.

Thanks for the replies. I am installing a pool next spring also. Is there a way to get a good tester that will work for both the pool and spa? Even if one is chlorine and one is bromine? If so what test kit should I get?

Brand New Spa newbie! Need help.

I have had my spa for about a week and a half and it has a continous ozone pump. They told me to check ph once a week and add baking soda to raise it or ph decreaser (that they provided) to lower it. Throw one bromine tablet in the skimmer basket per month, and use something called spa magic...
