Cheap, Simple web-enabled pool automation with Google Assistant Integration

THR320D is the same as the TH Elite, and it's the very same unit I am currently using to control my pool heater. It works well as a thermostat with the stock firmware. Sounds like you're able to eek out a bit more functionality with Tasmota, cool!

For that type of scheduling, I use Google Automations (part of Google Home/Assistant). For instance, at the moment I have my pool filter, pool robot and 'pool mode' turn on every day at 9AM, and then turn off at 5PM within Google Home. The TH Elite by itself may not have the functionality...

Base Sonoff Firmware. No Tasmota It is integrated directly with Google Home for automation. Pool/spa temp is controlled by the TH Elite directly (it turns on and off the relay by temperature). I have no personal code running. Like you guessed, I'm just toggling the fireman switch.

Update 2022! I purchased a SONOFF NSPanel. Seems like it could be the PERFECT indoor interface panel for this project. So far, its .... less than perfect. They still seem to be doing a lot of updating on the SW, so I still have hopes that it will be able to be used for this Pool Automation...

Locky- Yes for sure! No need for the voice trigger. I only added voice triggers for added convenience.

I run my On/Off schedule through Google Home Routines instead of through the eWelink app "schedule" function so I can't really help there. For mine, I go to the Google Home app, click Routines, and I have two routines defined: "Clean the pool" and "Stop cleaning the pool" "Clean the Pool" has...

Tankless Water Heater to Heat My Pool

You've got the infrastructure there already ... might as well run them in parallel!

Happy to help! I've worked on several cockpits over the years; mainly rotary wing (CH-47F, CH-53K) but also some fixed wing C295 and C-130. Collins Aerospace (my employer) does the cockpit interfaces on those aircraft including the mission computers and flight displays - Lots of exciting stuff!

    Automatic Timer

That looks perfect! Especially if your pumps already have US power plugs on them. Another alternative (I also use these for a few outdoor fountains) is the Wyze Outdoor plugs: https://wyze.com/wyze-plug-outdoor.html $10.99, and they work with Google Assistant as well (just like KASA).

    Automatic Timer

@Rancho Cost-a-Lotta is correct! SPOILER ALERT --- I reused my old mental Jandy Aqualink enclosure that was already on the wall. I think any dust/splash resistant (IP65?), rainproof outdoor enclosure would work though. Might be worth oversizing it in case you need more room in the future...

    Automatic Timer

I use the SONOFF 4CHR3PRO https://sonoff.tech/product/wifi-diy-smart-switches/4chr3-4chpror3 It has 4 different channels, that can be used with built in SW timers or even timers built into Google Assistant or Alexa. Its also only $22 as compared to $200 :) I've been using these things for ALL...

Cheap, Simple web-enabled pool automation with Google Assistant Integration

Is this the unit you're talking about? https://www.jandy.com/en/commercial/heaters/jxi If so, it seems like you'd hook it up almost exactly the same way I did. NOTE you MUST modify the TH16 circuit board to isolate the input voltage and make the TH16 into a 'dry contact' relay. Some...

I don't know how many Amps the SONOFF needs, but its likely not much. Again, I'm not an expert, but having too low of Amps provided by the power supply I don't think will ruin anything, but it will just likely be intermittent. I did notice that the MHCOZY has a 5VDC USB Mini power input that...

Ok, the hookup looks correct EXCEPT I noticed something else. My valves are 24V AC. It looks like you have a 24V DC power supply. If your valves are 24V DC, you should be OK.

I'm NOT an electrical expert, but what you've hooked up looks correct. HOWEVER, I don't know how your relay is setup - I don't know for sure if 'center' is the common and the other two are the Normally Closed/Open contacts. I also don't know what your voltage is actually set to -- looks like...

Cheap, Simple web-enabled pool automation with Google Assistant Integration

I really wanted to be able to control via Google Assistant voice and routines. I think there may be ways to do that with a Pi? I think there are people also who want to avoid doing any coding.

At the moment, Ewelink does support what they call "DIY Mode" and you can also flash it with Tasmota. Both I think will get us what we're looking for. I believe someone figured out the RS-485 protocol commands for the my Pentair VSF, so that'll be on the 'to do list' for next year.

Temp probe connects with a separate SONOFF TH16. There isn't a way to do it directly on the SONOFF 4CHPROR3 (that I know of!). I was going to use IFTTT to control the heater from a remote temp sensor, but it turns out that wasn't necessary!

I've been toying around with adding VS Pump control... the problem is that would require a little bit of coding and I was trying to avoid that :) Some people have already implemented the Pentair VSF Pump on this particular controller, so in theory it should be relatively simple. You can add...

Thanks Chris! :) What other features do you think I should look into adding? Checking out the brochure from an Intellicenter I8PS seems like this system is on par, Plus, since it works with Google Assistant, I can control every feature with voice, or routines. It also supports LAN ONLY...

Thanks to @MRoz for reminding me that I hadn't updated this post since I added lighting control and heater control. So I added the SONOFF TH16 and waterproof sensor to the system to control the heater. I also used the 4th channel of the SONOFF 4CHPROR3 to control my 12V lighting circuit. The...

You can definitely keep the breakers! In general, the breakers really should come before the SONOFF, and before the Power Supplies in my drawing. I don't have my lights on that drawing, but I only switch one of the low voltage legs with the Sonoff for my lights (only have one circuit of...

Re-purposing Aerobic Septic Venturi Chlorine dispensers as Pool Chlorinators?

Ahhh yes! There are systems that use the tablets. This system actually uses liquid chlorine bleach only. Also, I believe the proper septic tablets also do not have stabilizer, although I think there are other complications with using that system on a pool that I'd rather avoid.

Re-purposing Aerobic Septic Venturi Chlorine dispensers as Pool Chlorinators?

I don't think I understand. This method should only add Liquid Bleach --- no CYA/Stabilizer at all. All the other chems would need to be monitored/adjusted as usual. I also think its different from the 'liquidator' as it doesn't have a mixing vat of bleach/pool water. When the pool pump turns...

Re-purposing Aerobic Septic Venturi Chlorine dispensers as Pool Chlorinators?

I really am just pointing out that the Stenner system has to be continually adjusted, even though it has ridiculously precise metering capability. The reason it has to be continuously adjusted, is because of all the 'pool environment unknowns'. In the end, I'm trying to say that the accuracy...

Re-purposing Aerobic Septic Venturi Chlorine dispensers as Pool Chlorinators?

We recently had to install a new septic system, and it includes an automatic chlorinator which uses the pressure generated by flowing fluid to draw chlorine out of a holding container, and add measured amounts into a disinfecting chamber inside the septic tank. This is essentially the same...

Is it the 'big relays' that control the 220V pumps? Or from your description, more likely, its the relays built into the control board? (The ones shown in the picture below) Either way, both are definitely replaceable, even if they don't make the same one anymore. The control board ones are...

Today I went and integrated the sonoff TH16 temperature sensor for use with the heater control. I drilled out the existing Jandy temperature sensor, and slotted in the sonoff temperature sensor. This should allow me to set a upper and lower limit on the heater on/off.
