Best Practice to Completely Drain AGP?

Due to really bad water and improper closing last fall, my water was so green and full of algae that I've drained my pool. My problem is with the last inch or so of dirty, algae-filled water on the very bottom of the pool. I used a water hose to siphon it all off except for the last inch. I...

    Algaecide first or Metals Out

The water is green like a swamp and at this point, I really don't know what to do. I'm almost thinking I need to get the chlorine started to kill all the algae that's growing...the water is not green and clear, but green and has lots of things floating in it.....really disgusting.

    Algaecide first or Metals Out

Hi all..... many issues with my pool last year, most of all I was unable to take care of it properly. That said I drained it as low as I could last winter, put in the required chems and closed it. Opened it last weekend, it's green - no surprise. Took a week to fill it with well water that I...

    Extreme disappointment!!!

So.... I checked and have FC 1 and CC 1 so I get that TC would be 2. With these numbers, and the pool still green, do you suggest dumping enough chlorine to get to shock level?

    Extreme disappointment!!!

No numbers today, had torrential rain yesterday evening. Will get them this afternoon as long as the thunderstorms hold off! One good thing, the filter is continuing to run, and it looked this morning like the color was changing a bit back to green instead of being so brown.

    Extreme disappointment!!!

Opened the pool to cloudy water - but didn't see any algae. Added water from the well, started the filter running and it started clearing up a bit. Took a sample of water to pool store to check for iron/metals in the water, and got the 'all clear'.... I immediately came home and added...

Can anyone recommend pool steps for an above ground pool?

I am getting rid of the disgusting hard to manage ladder and want to buy some nice pool steps but I don't know if one type is better than another. I've heard sand-filled bags can be cumbersome, and if anyone has nice steps in their above ground pool, please let me know. Thanks!

    coffee anyone?

Dave, I followed the advice for changing from Bac to chlorine. I have been using chlorine tabs instead of liquid and checking my chemicals. When it didn't clear up, I went to the pool store (bad sharon) because I had done the work - vacuuming, cleaning the filter, etc. and didn't know what else...

to switch from baquacil to chlorine to salt .... advice?

I'm currently using Baquacil for my new 24' round AG pool. It's only been up since April 2011.
