Adding a sand filter to pool with skimmer already built in?

No, you take the filter out. You may also need to remove the impellor on the pump inside the skimmer/filter if it blocks the water flow. I suggest getting a Hayward skimmer off of Amazon, it will last a lot longer and be easier to maintain.

    Hose question

On my pool I have a Hayward skimmer with a 1.5 inch hose running to a 1.5 inch PVC pipe along the ground to a ball valve then a union where two 1.25 inch hoses go into a T fitting, through another ball valve (so I can turn off everything or just the skimmer) and then to the 1.5HP pump. 2 inch...

Intex Inflatable Pump E96 error, electrical issue?

My testing was with the spa only on the timer. Once I get it all working, I do plan on adding a dedicated outlet just for this. I am going to try a new non- GFCI plug directly to the 20amp GFCI outlet and I ordered a replacement GFCI plug as well. After about an hour testing it with just the...

Intex Inflatable Pump E96 error, electrical issue?

I posted in another thread about cleaning this thing up but now a new topic vastly different, so new thread. Got a new to me 4 person Intex PureSpa. Tub inflates and holds, holds water, have all the parts. Started with a E90 error and fixed that with a new impeller. Then started with E96 which...

    Intex PureSpa cleaning

Some good reading there. So, after I clean it and patch the air leak, fill with hose water and do the Ahhsome purge. After that, fill from the pool that already has a CYA of about 50 and TA / pH stable, do nightly testing and chlorine adding similar to how I do the pool? Target level of 4-6 with...

    Intex PureSpa cleaning

Got a nice free score of a Intex PureSpa with a E90 error. My research shows impeller damage, needing replacement. Sure enough the rod is broken and impeller falling apart. I already have a new one coming in. I have all the original parts that come with it and my limited testing shows it all...

    Vacuum for my pool?

I have used this for a couple weeks and have been impressed by it. It is a battery powered vacuum robot that rolls around the pool. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09X6Y6WTG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

2" pump inlet and outlet to a 1.5" pool inlet?

Thank you. I will get it plumbed in and can swap it out for the 1hp if I have any issues.

2" pump inlet and outlet to a 1.5" pool inlet?

Current in place pump is fine size wise, I requested the 1HP pump as well and will try that one when it comes in. The amperage on the test one is 15.5 amp. I have a 20 amp outlet for it. So, the one return that is in the pool is fine and I can increase the number of supply sources to the pump...

2" pump inlet and outlet to a 1.5" pool inlet?

I got this pump in today for to test and review. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B17Q9GVP Anyways, I have a Best Way 18" pool with two supply out of the pool at 1.25" each to a 1.5" union and the return to the pool is a 1.5". My current Proline 1HP pump is connected through some stepdowns and...

    INSTALLATION AND PHOTO THREAD!!!!

Yes, liquid stabilizer. It was with the opening chemicals in store. I used this: https://lesliespool.com/leslies-instant-pool-water-conditioner-plus-1-gallon/12323.html#description-btn-div The longevity of the stabilizer should be fairly stable. I was getting frustrated with how long it was...

    INSTALLATION AND PHOTO THREAD!!!!

On the chlorine, I did my first dose of chlorine using a left over jug from last summer. Worked just fine. As for the stabilizer, I used powder and could not get it to really increase, took a while to raise any at all. I pulled the sock out and poured in a appropriately dosed pool opener liquid...

    Looking for a replacement leg

Can you add a photo of what you have now with dimensions? I have a bunch of round Summer Escape legs for a 48" pool. That and a wood block will get you level. I see you are in MA. I am in Stafford CT, right off of 84.

    Where do Intex pools fail?

I picked up a used sand filter and pump on facebook marketplace for $100. I then added a Haywood skimmer that I had to cut a hole for. This year, the liner was shot so we got a new Best Way pool. Still use the same filter and got a Intex over the side skimmer instead of cutting a hole. The used...

    Closing Time...

Looks interesting. Would probably work, but I would be concerned of it being a rip point in the wind. On a similar subject, a question for you CT-Steven, what do you do for closing on the Intex in CT? I am up in Stafford on the MA line and previous years I have taken down at the end of the...

Leaky connections to the pump and filter.

The screw downs I am referring to would be the nut in your description. I will take some pictures of my setup when I get home from work to show what I mean.

Should I add my skimmer basket to new pool

Good thinking, I just ordered one on sale for 30 bucks from Amazon. Will give that a try prior cutting a hole in the wall. Thanks

OK, I can easily do that. Thanks

Leaky connections to the pump and filter.

For the pipe connections, ignore the screw downs. The end of the hose should have a firm plastic ring. Go to Home Depot (or Lowes) and grab some of these: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Fernco-2-in-x-1-1-2-in-DWV-Flexible-PVC-Coupling-P1056-215/100013986 You can get all sorts of sizes. I found...

Should I add my skimmer basket to new pool

Pulled out my Summer Escapes 6k gallon pool to set up and it had a bunch of small cracks in the liner along the bottom. So, we ordered a new 18'x4' Bestway pool. The pool has two outlets hoses 1.25" through a hole to a joiner to the included pump and then a 2" hose back to the pool. With the SE...

    Sand Filter and Winter

Now that I am getting overnight freezing temps, my intex pool has been taken down for the winter. What should I be doing with the sand filter and pump? I have drained and removed the top (multi valve) to the filter, the drain valve left open. I put a piece of wood over the opening to keep rain...

Leaks from sand filter and pump

New to me equipment and getting it up and running. Pump is a simple proline pump that has a slight leak from the impeller housing. Almost as if I didn't tighten the screws all the way. I removed the housing cover and made sure it was clean and put it back together. I did not see a o-ring in...

Soon to be new pool owner!

I agree. Getting someone to do it is the hard part! This season, I contacted 2 landscaping companies to come out and quote it. Both never showed up after having interest in doing the job. 4 years now I have eyeballed it and got it set up. End goal it to set up a permanent pool and that would be...

Soon to be new pool owner!

I suggest putting it on the grass itself. Make sure the area is level and set it up. I have done several seasons with various size intex pools and rotated where I put them. I never noticed any smell from the grass being squished. Eventually we will set up a dedicated area for a pool, removing...
