Pool a bit cloudy past week; current TFE-100 readings posted in thread

Would it take a week even with the sock method? I thought only had to wait if you directly add the stabilizer granules directly into the skimmer (while its on, and hence those granules get sucked in and stuck in the sand filter to decompose over a week). But I thought if you squeeze the sock...

Pool a bit cloudy past week; current TFE-100 readings posted in thread

okay ill keep an eye on the pressure after a backwash process. I'll go SLAM it tonight. I'm going to assume my CYA is still low at 20 maybe since Im not sure its even at 30. The CYA chart says for CYA 20 my SLAM level should be 10... does that mean i need to raise my FC to 10? But in PoolMath if...

Pool a bit cloudy past week; current TFE-100 readings posted in thread

I added the full 4lb Clorox Stabilizer small white granules to 2 large socks in the skimmer. I then came to the skimmer every 2-4hrs and squeezed the sock all around to get the mushy stuff to leave the sock. It took about 24-36hrs to get it all out. I did this squeeze process 60% of the time...

Pool a bit cloudy past week; current TFE-100 readings posted in thread

Hey all, 2nd time I've done the TFE-100 kit test. Hoping someone can help. Pool has been a bit cloudy past week. My dad says its a 35k gallon pool. I added a bag Clorox CYA stabilizer via the 'sock-placed-in-filter' method last week to raise my CYA. We have had a bit of yellow-green algae in the...

Anyway to attach 1.5" pool cleaner hose as your backwash hose?

Had a couple questions... So if I got the one the other 2 posters mentioned.. https://www.amazon.com/Apache-98138015-Lay-Flat-Discharge-Aluminum/dp/B000L69X5Q/ 1. Would it clamp on onto my 'ribbed' discharge port, or would i have to get something else that connects to that? (if so, what part...

Anyway to attach 1.5" pool cleaner hose as your backwash hose?

Yep thats pics of my current setup, so already have the blue vacuum hose attached. I might give that Hayward a shot. Seems cheap enough to see if it connects to my engine. I've seen some heavy duty regular pool hoses on amazon like Gorilla or Black Rhino brand. So I might give that a shot as...

Anyway to attach 1.5" pool cleaner hose as your backwash hose?

I am gettin' tired of replacing those cheap quality blue hoses. I heard some people are using firehoses, I might be interested in that option.. But before looking at that option, I was curious... Can you attach a pool cleaner hose with some sort of middleman attachment?, I'd like to use the...

    Paint vs Plaster

just wanted to resurrect this thread of mine... had a question above asking if any type of paint will last or every single one of them, including epoxy and rubber, will have these regulations and not last long? I did some some good reviews for this Supreme Paints company that maybe 1 person...

    Paint vs Plaster

hmmmm is that 2-3 year lifetime even with epoxy-based paints? If anyone knows of a paint that can last 8 years (as I've seen some articles online mention), it might influence our decision.

    Paint vs Plaster

Hello everybody, We have a concrete pool from the 1960's, about 30,000+ gallons. and pretty sure its a painted pool as I remember someone coming to paint it 10 years ago. Since its lasted 8-10 years since the last repaint so I *assume* epoxy (and not rubber). Although I painted the top 1foot...

possible to use skimmer hose for backwash instead of flimsy backwash hose?

So those blue hoses are pretty flimsy and develop holes in them pretty quickly once a little kink forms when backwashing. I was thinking we already have so many 'hard' skimmer hoses lying around that can be connected to form a 100ft+ hose... Is there an small attachment we can add onto the...

Tiles and chunk of cement fell off pool

I guess this explains alot ... under the concrete deck pretend is dirt. and the expansion-joint area should not allow deck and the bond-beam/coping to touch at all.

Tiles and chunk of cement fell off pool

Sorry maybe one more clarification @AQUA~HOLICS : When you said: "The break between the coping and deck needs to be completely to dirt" What mean by 'to dirt'

Tiles and chunk of cement fell off pool

Hey @AQUA~HOLICS , So just curious if there are 2 expansion joints? I thought reading this article that the expansion joint is the part where there is sealant (caulking or deck-o-seal) right behind the coping (the parts in my video where the sealant isn't looking too great)...

Tiles and chunk of cement fell off pool

Hey all, Past couple years we been having tiles fall off off my parent's pool. Today a bigger chunk of cement actually fell off with some tiles. Video below: Just curious what you think I should do for a temp fix ... and permanent fix. Temp fix questions: Well i guess my first question...

portable options to light up an entire in-ground pool

I saw those glue options and didn't like those as well. Im going to see if the magnets stick to the sides of the ladder (or rig something to tie them on temporarily) and the metal pool light housing. One of them (the 3rd one i think) had an option to hang on the pool jets but its more expensive...

Its an in-ground cement pool, so don't think the Magnetic one that you posted will work.

portable options to light up an entire in-ground pool

I was looking for some alternate means to light up the pool at night for the occasional one-time-per-week night swim. So only need to use it an hour or two per week. We don't want to use our pool light at the moment (as its old and no matter what new replacement gasket we get, we keep getting...

how to stop crawly-type cleaner like Zodiac Barracuda G3 from getting stuck on bottom floor obstacles

Hey!, I really like the Barracuda cleaner, but it gets stuck on some things on the bottom of the pool floor. So if i leave it out there an hour, 2-3 times it may happen so its kinda annoying that i have to baby it and watch it vs multi-task and do something else. Its usually a few small plugs...

crack from where cement is maybe is weighing down on skimmer?

Hey everybody!, Had a question. Took a video of the skimmer area of the pool as might help explain: My random guess is the weight of the cement slab on top of the skimmer is weighing down more on one side, which is causing a crack to form inside the skimmer? If so, whats a good way to lift...

Replacing pool light... right light and also do I need silicon?

Hey all, have an old light I'm replacing the light on for my parents. Its says its a CHD model 100-5 500Watt 120V (its an old swimming pool maybe from the 60s or 70s, seems like this housing is an older one). I'm guessing this is the part diagram for it...

Glue broken pool jet back onto return valve while water is above it

I tried the Mr Stickies Underwater Glue 1st and it worked. I applied some on the jet and also around the edges and put on my goggles and put the jet in place (then took a screwdriver with more glue and placed it around the jet on the outside while it was in-place underwater). I had to use a flat...

Glue broken pool jet back onto return valve while water is above it

Thanks... The JB WaterWeld epoxy seems to be similar to the LocTite marine epoxy. I already ordered the former the other night... so i'll give that a shot first and report back if it works. Do I want to be underwater applying this epoxy stuff with my goggles on to get it fully on hehe? It...

Glue broken pool jet back onto return valve while water is above it

hmmm i need a $45 minimum to order from that website. Don't think I see that product elsewhere. Any other good choices that I can get from Amazon? Mr Stickies underwater glue (ST-02) or JB Weld WaterWeld Epoxy Putty Stick (8277)?
