    Hayward GVA-24 - how many o-rings inside?

Can anyone tell me how many o-rings are inside a Hayward GVA-24? I recently had an issue with one of mine and it was replaced by my builder under warranty. However, the first thing they did was send out a tech from the company they outsource most of their warranty work to. The tech took the...

    Replace this actuator, right?

Forgot to close the loop here. Builder replaced the actuator under warranty with a Jandy actuator and things are working correctly again.

    I've lost my data

Geez. That was it. Should have tried that before posting. I guess I have a account with my Google login and a normal user/password account. Thanks so much for the quick response.

    I've lost my data

My subscription expired due to me getting a new credit card and not updating my payment method in the play store. I updated my card and made the subscription payment, but my app has lost all of my data. I've tried to restore subscription, and it recognizes that I have an account, but I do not...

    Polaris 280 tail not sweeping

Interesting, I just saw that product online yesterday. There's a pro model also for $1 more, but the reviews aren't as good as the "normal" model. Think I may give it a shot since a replacement sweep is almost the same price. Luckily our pool is far enough away from the house that it doesn't...

    Polaris 280 tail not sweeping

Polaris 280 cleaner, about 2 years old, and the tail doesn't sweep anymore. It just sort of drags behind the cleaner which now gets stuck a lot. The tail is not stiff. Water comes out of the tail but I'm not sure what it's supposed to look like. Right now, it's sort of just blasting out all over...

    Replace this actuator, right?

Just looked up the terms for our build and there is a 3 year warranty on the equipment, so I'm gonna contact the builder to see if he will replace it first. It's barely 2 years old at this point. And, actually it's a Hayward GVA-24 actuator...which I just discovered yesterday. All of my...

    Replace this actuator, right?

Just to get some confirmation here, this actuator needs to be replaced, right? Just noticed recently that it hasn't been completely shutting the valve it controls as it leaves a little trickle from my spillover when it should be completely off. Took it apart today and noticed water inside, the...

    Leak between valve and actuator

Was adjusting the cams on my valve and noticed it started leaking when it was turned all the way to the spa return. It stopped if I turned it back from all the way open to the spa. The leak appears to be coming from where the actuator goes into the valve. Is this a common failure point? What...

Cam'ing valves for freeze protection setup

OK. Thanks for confirming what I thought was going on. My suction has a single check valve on it right before it goes into the pump, but each suction line does not have a check valve. There's only about 6 inches of pipe exposed so it's probably not worth my time and effort to put one in...

Cam'ing valves for freeze protection setup

Finally got back to this today and had it dialed in exactly where I wanted it. However, when the pump turned off, the spa drained down to the level of the pool. I've since read that this is pretty normal if the spa drain is open, the pump is off and there's no check valve on the spa return...

Cam'ing valves for freeze protection setup

Had some other things that needed to get done today since the weather was so nice so didn't get to spend a whole lot of time on this. I almost had it dialed in. I started with the return and got the spa to a nice, soothing trickle. Then I adjusted the suction and totally lost the trickle...

Cam'ing valves for freeze protection setup

By frozen valves I mean frozen on the outside from snow, ice, freezing rain, etc. where the valve would be prevented from turning due to the ice buildup.

Cam'ing valves for freeze protection setup

Well, as with anything I try to do on my pool, the first attempt was a massive failure. I (stupidly) adjusted the actuators today before I had to leave the house for a few hours. Came back and the spa was drained. I guess I got something wrong. I put it back to the way it was and gonna give...

Cam'ing valves for freeze protection setup

So we've officially gotten to the point where it's to cold to swim anymore. This will be our second winter with the pool as it was finished right before winter last year. I didn't know what I was doing last year so I just left it how the builder set it up. Now that I have a little more...

Calcium buildup - will it go away?

Thanks for the info. I'll probably just keep scrubbing on it. The buildup is in an odd location. It's where the top of the tile meets the mortar bed underneath the stone coping which is a few inches above the water line. So it only touches the water when people are in the pool and the water...

Calcium buildup - will it go away?

Added way more MA than I thought I should and finally got my PH to come down. For the calcium buildup that's there, will it go away on its own as long as I keep my PH down or do I need to continue working on it with a brush and a MA solution? Most of it is located above the waterline.

Missing grout between tiles. Can I fix this myself?

Looks like there is some grout missing between two of the tiles on my pool. Build is less than 1 year old, so not sure if this fell off or they missed it. Can I fix this myself? If so, is it just like grouting a tile floor? Does it need to be dry to setup?

    First filter cleaning...disgusting!

My hose nozzle has really good pressure and does a really good job. I just didn't expect the cartridges to be as dirty as they were. The comb is an interesting product. I think my hose has enough pressure, but something to actually open the pleats and dislodge stuff that might be stuck in...

    First filter cleaning...disgusting!

Pool finished in December 2022. Builder told me to clean the filters when the pressure got to 30 PSI or at 6 months. Pressure never gets above 10 so I opened things up for the first cleaning today. It was absolutely disgusting. I probably spent over an hour spraying the cartridges with a...

FC went up 1.5 in 2 days, should I adjust my SWG?

FC was usually running around 3-3.5 while I was trying to dial in my CYA and pH. I think I finally got my pH and CYA where I need them, but now my FC is up. Test 2 days ago - CYA at 80, pH at 8.2, and FC at 5.5 Test today - CYA at 80, pH at 7.8 and FC at 7 Still trying to get a handle on how...

Tiny air bubbles coming out of only one return

Was able to work on things a little bit yesterday. Turning the SWG to 0% stopped the bubbles altogether. I set it to 0% with the pump at my normal afternoon speed (2K) and no bubbles came out. However, the bubbles also stop when I have the SWG set to my normal rate (30%) and the pump running...
