Thank you sir. One question, my PH is 7.5, I thought it needed to be 7.2-7.5 prior to slam? Just wondering, why does the PH need to be lowered? Will that adversely affect the SLAM?

4 days ago. I did the chlorine loss test; it dropped 1 point So I stopped the SLAM as recommended. I scrubbed the walls, ladder and vacuumed.

Ok guys, pool has been awesome and clear until about a week ago when we got a ton of rain. I had to drain the pool several times. I unfortunately was not able to dose chlorine and got an algae bloom. I shocked as the app told me to, did the OCLT and got the algae gone. Unfortunately it is...

Ok, thanks Mcnauss. 2 FC was what I was told to add to begin with while the CYA gets distributed.

Ok guys, took approximately 22 hours to fill. Two hoses going overnight. Pool's been circulating. I added 3 lbs of CYA using the sock method, hanging over the pool in front of the jet. CYA is dissolving, and I've squeezed it several times to disperse. almost completelyl dissolved, pump's...

Nosir I am not, we're on city water. Not that far into Bubba Gump land. I literally live on the border of Bayou LaBatre, where Forest Gump was based.

Thank you all! Exactly what I've been looking for! Richard: as for the kiddos - 15 and 18- getting in the pool immediately is not of much concern. We've been awaiting the pool install for several months now, so a day or two more won't hurt. We all want it right before we start enjoying it...

Merged threads -- TFP Mod I have gotten / seen conflicting advice on which comes first with a brand-new pool; I have been told to start with FC then move to 30 CYA, but I've also seen advice to get to 30 CYA first then work on FC. Can we please have a clear, concise direction as to what comes...

Thank you Mknauss. So I searched all over the TFP forum and I haven't been able to find a specific series of events to do with first startup of a pool. IE, what comes first, PH then CYA then Chlorine?? Is there somewhere you can point me to? I have already read the Pool School, downloaded...

Thank you. Could you please explain why 30 CYA when the PM app says 45 is recommended for my pool? Are you telling me to start at 30 and gradually get to 45?

Newbie With Questions On Initial Startup

Thank you sir. Chlorine is indoors. So do I need to get the PH right first? So what you are saying is, for CYA, get to 30, then test, then come up to 45? because PM says get to 45 for my pool. Or am I reading it right?

Newbie With Questions On Initial Startup

So to get a bit ahead of the install this Thursday, I've purchased 2.5g of liquid chlorine, and 8 lbs of CYA. I have a small test kit that I was able to test my tap water with; PH is 6.8, and my chlorine is 0.5. So if I'm looking at Pool Math correctly, once I get the pool filled, I should be...

thank you sir. How long after the initial fill do I need to start checking my water? I know 'immediately' is the most ideal, but I don't know how long it will take to get the test kit here. Pool is scheduled to be installed on the 9th.
