Just to give a 3.5 year update. I've left the pool up, filled to nearly the top, not covered, every year since. I have the Steel sided AGP now, and I even left the stairs in this year to freeze. No issues!

Hmm, i'll have to look at my bottles. I would never have noticed that. I use Pro-Clor 12.5% from menards - and looking at the bottle it appears you're correct. Crazy!

I guess I disagree with that. All my bottles have a spill-proof adhesive seal under the cap. Its definitely not breathable.

Ok - perfect - that's what was important to me - that it report correctly - and not that somehow, it would show 5ppm CL and not be as effective as fresh chlorine. Thank you!

Is there a hands off way to change the speed on the VS pumps? Or do you have to walk over there and manually change it whenever you want it. Right now, I have my pump and heater on a smart outlet, so I can just start heating from anywhere.

Cool - i'll check that out. I'm at a rate of about 2 ppm CL loss from day to day with no activity in the pool.

Also - you'll find that your grass will LOVE propertly balanced water. The small amount of chlorine will not hurt your grass at all. My neighbor just had a hose come loose and he lost about 1/3 of his water, most of which ended up in my yard. As you can see, the grass was REAL happy about it.

Is there a good way to completely clean the stairs? Just dump straight bleach on them and scrub? Or will just letting them dry 100% do the job?

I've backfilled a bit - some extra sand my neighbor had - but I put down landscape fabric between the pool wall and the sand / dirt to hopefully give it some sort of barrier over the years. we'll see how it turns out.
