I thhink Im going to use a minivac to suck up the undissolved stuff from the spa floor and see if it helps.

I recently installed a soft water system to the house and plan on tapping into the cold line under kitchen sink and then connecting it to the pool fill line. Hopefully it wont cost me too much extra in salt to utilize the soft water for the pool. Thank you.

I read further on the CYA, I did not know that it degrades, thought it just kept adding up while using the Trichlor tabs. How often should I test the CYA level?

As to trichlor tabs, I think the prior owner had used them and the level was so high it took a lot of chlorine to get free chlorine high enough. Using liquid bleach now.

Do I dilute it in water before adding it? I read somewhere that I shouldn't add dry due to staining?

Did the overnight chlorine loss test. Had level at 28ppm. This morning it was at 25. So with that loss of 3ppm, that means there is still something left to oxidize? Ok, added 28 ounces more chlorine. I'll test it again at nightfall and bring up to shock level and see what reading I get...
