    We’re SLAMMIN

Bob Marley anyone? Well, it’s pool opening time in PA again and I have begun the SLAM. The pool is looking okay and I think the cold water and opening it earlier than ever is working to our benefit. Maybe one of these years we will open to a non-algaefied pool. This is not that year. Anyway...

Best Places to Buy Liquid Chlorine

I don’t remember! We always buy the one-gallon throwaways (well, recyclables) for convenience.

Heavy Rains = Crazy Algae (pool covered)

I'm not an expert on anything pool, but last year when our pool was cloudy it took probably two weeks for the sand filter to do its thing and get rid of the cloudiness. It takes longer than you think it should!

Should I Add Chlorine to a Non-Circulating Pool

So we opened our pool and it's full of algae, but less so than other years, which is great because last year was the first year we took over testing and chemicals on our own. Unfortunately the electrical cord to our pump is chewed and our pool opening company won't start the pump for fear it...

How Clear is TFP Clear? Let's See (Pics Only Please).

We had a ton of issues with our pool this year, but thanks to all the good knowledge presented here, we were finally able to clear it up beautifully. You could absolutely tell if a quarter in the deep end is heads or tails, and on these HOT days it’s such a pleasure to swim in.

    PH/TA lowering

Hi, I have a TA/PH question. The PH currently is about 8.2 and the TA is 120. Putting those numbers into pool math and it says I require 2 lbs 11 oz of Dry Acid to bring my PH down to a target of 7.6. Is "Lo N Slo" dry acid? (We have some left over, I will not buy it again) and if a bag is 2.5...

    Milky blue water: DRAINING QUESTIONS

Okay, we are slowly coming around to the idea of draining some water, but I have a lot of questions. I understand the basic steps: 1) turn off power to pump, filter, etc. 2) get a submersible pump and attach discharge hose 3) run the hose to the sewer thing in our front yard (forget the name...

    Milky blue water: DRAINING QUESTIONS

I have read that document. Is the suggestion to drain based on the high CYA? Draining seems like a major undertaking that we weren't quite ready to tackle. Could we SLAM without draining first?

    Milky blue water: DRAINING QUESTIONS

Hi, friends! I'm brand new here and have convinced my husband that you guys will save us, because the pool store(s) and pool guys all have different solutions and none of them have been helpful. Help me save my pool! (And convince my husband that this is the correct route!) We opened our pool...
