    Microbrite lights dead- flashing red.

We have 4 microbrites (the 1.5" standard wall fitting type)- 3 in the pool - 1 in the hot tub. After 3 years of not much problem- 1 of the lights in the pool gave up- flashing red- from the forums- thats an indication it needs to be replaced. At a replacement cost of $529 -that seems ridiculous-...

    Chlorine cycle

I have a salt water pool. General advice holds- barring splashout, rain water overflowing the pool- there really is no loss of NaCl from the pool and I really shouldn't have to add any NaCl in a steady state situation. - Chlorine evaporates from the pool in sunlight - Chlorine is consumed in...

    pool cover and chemistry

2nd winter in Houston with pool. This year got a pool cover so that I didn't have to empty the skimmers twice a day. Bought an oversized net and threw it over the pool. Figure I can leave in place for 4-6 weeks, by then the majority of leaf shedding is done here. It has worked great. I had...

    Overflow drain in Houston

Last couple of days Houston has had significant rain. We don’t have an overflow drain. Pool is about a year since we started the build- all I can recall is the PB telling me something about city of Houston code doesn’t allow for overflow drain. Obviously too late to do anything about- 1- is that...

taking the plunge and converting to SWG

All done. Thanks to all your input. Added the salt last week. Did the plumbing and electrical today. SWG is functional. Installed an pentair IC-40. 4 hours of work. Plumbing took most of the time to get perfect.

    What is this?

My new warrior SE robot cleaner is picking up everything- last two weeks this is the second time I found this worm in the basket. Seems to be alive. Can anyone help identify?

    Thoughts on heater internal bypass

Noted- stand corrected not all posts- some posts. In the further reading section- why do you need the check valve? The thermal regulator and internal bypass are one way valves.

    Thoughts on heater internal bypass

However- to my original argument- external bypass or not- if you do not fire up the heater- the water remains in those coils and what you described above still has potential to occur.

    Thoughts on heater internal bypass

This goes against most of the analysis in the forums - specifically the assertion that we do not need an external bypass since an internal bypass exists in the heater- And placing one will let water sit in the coils for an extended period of time. I would like to disagree based primarily on the...

GPM vs. RPM issue - Pentair Intellicenter

you could add an actuator to the bypass valve- connect actuator to the same control that controls the valve for the spa.

    microbrite failure

One of the microbrites started flickering and went off sync. The PB sent someone and they could not unscrew the light. I did not see them use the pentair tool- (p/n 620459)- he kept trying with pliers and screwdrivers. Told us to heat up the pool so he could really get to it- came back in 2 days...

New pentair warrior SE and other updates

I just got the warrior se. Need to confirm its water line cleaning behavior. I saw that it climbs up and scrubs the same area of the waterline for about 20 seconds before descending. Is it supposed to stay in the same place or move side ways? I can't see how it can clean all the waterline in one...

New pentair warrior SE and other updates

Just a big thank you to all for the helpful tips and great discussions. Called Marina pool and spa and my pentair Warrior SE was at my door 3 days later. Tried to give my local pool supply store the business but the difference was in the 3 digits. Pulled out the racer today and dropped in the...

taking the plunge and converting to SWG

updates- the IC40 and power supply just came in the mail. Picked up 6 bags of pool salt at the orange store- (surprisingly the cost difference between pool salt and water softener was $1 /bag. Need to pick up 9 more bags- ( I calculated wrong for 20000 gallon pool). The more I read about heater...

do you have a reference for this? i.e. bypass when water is cold? I could not find it in any of the manuals.

    Internal heater bypass

I realize this post is old- We just got a pentair mastertemp 400. I looked up the manual and believe the bypass valve is not used to bypass water when the heater is not being used. In fact from the design- it appears that when the flow increases- as it will during the heater usage- excess flow...

taking the plunge and converting to SWG

Inspired by this thread ( intellichlor power center transformer specs ) I am going the SWG way- IC40. The only thing it kills is the ridiculously low 1 year warranty on our travertine. 2- questions- - where to install. Remove the inline chlorinator? or keep it as a backup? if I keep it as a...
