    It's Pool Repair Weekend!

How large were the cracks that you used the hydraulic cement on? I didn’t fix some of the cracks in mine before paint. I’m afraid they may be leaking. Also we had to use some JB Water Weld around the returns because the caulk didn’t hold up that well. It’s ugly but works.

New paint. New water. Anything I need to know?

Yeah, still trying to get it balanced. Ended up having leaks in the return and skimmer lines. So, we made some make shift plumbing to get us through the rest of summer. Plan on re-doing all the plumbing this fall. And same on the ice melt haha. Finally came in yesterday.

What did I get myself into lol

So, bad news. We definitely have a leak. Judging from the photos before it was cleaned up, it looks like the water line stopped at the return lines guessing that's where the water is leaving. I have a company coming out in a couple of weeks to find the leak(s) but until then we're going to run...

CircuPool RJ-60...what all do I need?

Yes this is a fresh fill from the hose. Not 100% confident as it was my first time. I can test again tomorrow though.

CircuPool RJ-60...what all do I need?

Not sure how accurate it is being my first time testing but this is what I came up with: 2.0ppm free chlorine 3.5ppm combined Ph was 8+ 50ppm alkalinity 40ppm calcium CYA the dot never disappeared so no idea

New paint. New water. Anything I need to know?

I'm going through this as well. Just painted and filled the pool. I was reading the start-up guide for the plaster pool. I'm guessing "plaster dust" wont be an issue with the paint. Did you experience any kind of paint dust or anything similar? Thanks!

CircuPool RJ-60...what all do I need?

Updated! Thanks. I'm using the Taylor K-2006 test kit. I'm going to go by in an hour and do the test. Just came in today.

CircuPool RJ-60...what all do I need?

So I'm a rookie pool owner. Brand new to all of this. We just got the pool filled back up. I have a test kit. Do I need to get all of my numbers correct from the manual first and then add the salt? Edit: Nevermind. Just read this part in the manual: "It is important that the pool's water...

CircuPool RJ-60...what all do I need?

That's a great writeup! I'll definitely be referring back to it in a couple of days. Thanks!

CircuPool RJ-60...what all do I need?

Maybe I'm overthinking it but what all do I need to add SWCG? Working with a 38k gallon pool so I'm looking at the CircuPool RJ-60. Do I just need the pump and the fittings? Do I need a timer with this one or can I just wire it to where it cuts on when the pump does? Thank you!

What did I get myself into lol

That's what I'm afraid of lol. I don't want to pressure wash it every year. We'll see. Maybe it'll hold up.

What did I get myself into lol

It’s a relief. It took so much time to pressure wash off the old paint and then wash it with TSP. I almost passed out trying to paint it because of the heat. Made me wish I’d started last January instead of May.

What did I get myself into lol

Nothing lol. I didn’t want to wait another 7-14 days for white paint and we ended up not wanting to paint them blue so people could see where to step. I’ll paint them next Spring before opening.

What did I get myself into lol

We’re almost there. The water should be up to the skimmers tomorrow and then we will test out the pump. 🤞Hoping it still runs!

What did I get myself into lol

I’ve finished pressure washing most of the pool. The deep end still needs it though. It’ll be tougher because of all the water that collects there. Progress has been slow because of all the rain we’ve been getting. I have lost the pool paint battle with my wife. So we will be re-painting next...

What did I get myself into lol

I went by today to take some photos of the equipment to post here. I then decided to trouble shoot the plumbing. Hopefully my photo isn’t confusing. The orange arrows are locations of the returns. The blue arrows are the skimmers and drain in the bottom of the deep end. Since the pipes were...

What did I get myself into lol

The ball valves do turn! I’m helping my father-in-law finish a hay barn on Thursday and then he’s going to come help hook up the electrical connections to the pool. He’s the one that original ran it all and then disconnected it.

What did I get myself into lol

That's a great idea! There are two skimmers on opposite corners of the pool. Hopefully the Pool Gods will look down on me with some sympathy and there's a simple fix for the plumbing.

What did I get myself into lol

Yeah I'm pretty positive it is suction. I'll look into the cover to put on it if we don't get the pipes fixed before people start using the pool. Those pipes were a temporary fix when they thought the others were leaking. I'm hoping maybe it was just clogged and not broken.

What did I get myself into lol

My son is 12. He's holding up surprisingly well considering the stuff we did on Saturday. He had fun rescuing a turtle, a few gigantic toads, and some salamanders. He got to pressure wash and use the backpack blower for the first time and he enjoyed that. The pipes were unhooked for the...
