    need to refinish pool?

So. He insisted on trying drop down. It did drop the fine white powder to the bottom, and then next vacuumed what could be vacuumed up. I expect it'll go cloudy again and then he'll open the filter to look at the zeo sand. anyway, he told me I could refinish pool myself, that it's not...

    need to refinish pool?

Considering it might be the zeobrite sand as well. Reading some stories of people with similar cloudy water and balanced chemicals because the zeo wasn't working. Having the person who installed it come open up the filter tomorrow since it is still under warranty.

    need to refinish pool?

current test results: FC 11.5 CC 0.5 pH 7.6 TA 90 CH 225 CYA 50 I kept the FC above 20 from 4/21 to 5/2. The CC was never above 0.5, and the OCLT was 1.5 at the beginning. I haven't lost any chlorine overnight for a week so I suspect it is a different issue.

    need to refinish pool?

After determining the cya was too high, We did a water replacement in March and had a month of perfect water. Then it rained and cloudiness started again. It's now been two weeks of SLAM and it's not getting any clearer. I don't have any overnight chlorine loss and the powder is white...

How do I choose valve size to order?

Sorry for the inaccurate vocabulary. Hoping to rebuild. I read on the forums that I didn't need to completely replace them, which would be a big mess but just replace the innards.

How do I choose valve size to order?

Thanks y'all. I found a piece of cut off pipe from when the sand filter was installed and it's diameter was 2 3/8 in, which means I have 2" PVC I think. I replaced the grease caps 6 months ago. Is a plug different? Anybody have a good video for showing the replacement process? I believe we...

How do I choose valve size to order?

    Balanced chemistry, fine white powder

HELP. It's cloudy again. It started to be a little cloudy last week and so I began a SLAM and I have been SLAMing for 5 days now and it's just getting worse. Before the start of the SLAM, my numbers were FC: 5 CC: 0.5 pH: 7.8 TA: 75 CH: 220 CYA: 50 I've been keeping the chlorine above 20 and...

    Balanced chemistry, fine white powder

So my pool has been looking great for several weeks now, thanks y'all. I have a question though that has been puzzling me. If I maintain the recommended FC level of 7 with my CYA of 60, isn't that too high for people to swim in ?

    Balanced chemistry, fine white powder

CYA is down to 50! Water looks so much better. Test levels were FC 0.5, CYA 50, pH 8.0, TA 110, CH 110. Added liquid chlorine and some calcium tonight, more calcium and some muriatic acid tomorrow.

    Balanced chemistry, fine white powder

Yes I agree a SLAM would help, but I need to lower the CYA first. It explains why previous SLAMS didn't end my algae woes last summer. I've already exchanged some of the water and the CYA is still 150? It must have been very high. My current plan: 1. Lower CYA to 50 2. SLAM 3. Raise CH

    Balanced chemistry, fine white powder

So the first week of March before starting this thread I did pool water replacement 4 times (raised water level to top of decorative top tiles, ran vacuum to waste to bottom of top decorative tiles). (8-10 inches height). Pool math is telling me I need to replace 67% of my water to lower CYA to...

    Balanced chemistry, fine white powder

I cannot run my pump lower than 1850 and have enough water in the pump strainer basket. I did the test on Wednesday where you pour water over turn valves to see if it affects that level and it did. So I need to replace some valves.

    Balanced chemistry, fine white powder

The cloudiness was about the time of the new pump. Let me think through it. We bought the new filter in October after the DE one was broken inside and I was tired of cleaning it constantly. (I struggled a lot with algae last year). The system worked fine for several months and then our pump...

    Balanced chemistry, fine white powder

So I had no idea that the Xtra blue tablets or shock had copper in them. I just found them convenient. Also, I really have read the pool school articles but didn't process the method being significantly different from what I was doing. As I think about it, I added a copper based algaecide...

Great question, I went and checked ingredients and I have Clorox Xtrablue tri-chlor tablets in my automatic chlorinator. I use Clorox Xtra blue powdered shock weekly and Walmart liquid bleach to SLAM.

    Balanced chemistry, fine white powder

I'm in central Florida and it isn't pollen. My pool is screened in and there isn't any white stuff anywhere else. Also, when the pump isn't running for several days, the water is clear. It clouds after running the pump.

    Balanced chemistry, fine white powder

Help! I have cloudy water from a fine white powder settling on the bottom only. I have a newer zeolite sand filter (several months old) and a recently new variable speed motor. My water chemistry is balanced according to my tests and according to local pool store tests. First pool store...

    Finally registered in Florida

Hi I live in Florida and have owned a pool for 1.5 years now. I've read most of the materials on the website and many threads previously. I am registering to look for help with my pool now, but I'll put that in another thread.
