Pool PVC pipe cracked near concrete - how to fix, and what is the black PVC pipe glue?

Thanks for the pointers. I'll find out this weekend if that black glue gives way to a heat gun. If it doesn't, I'll have to resort to a socket saver. Hope it doesn't come down to cutting/chipping concrete. It's outside my comfort zone with tools. If I have to do it in the future, I might hire...

Pool PVC pipe cracked near concrete - how to fix, and what is the black PVC pipe glue?

this sounds like a great approach. For now, I'll use heat gun to remove the elbow above the ball valve and replace that part of the plumbing. If this happens again, I'll cut the concrete the way you mentioned.

Pool PVC pipe cracked near concrete - how to fix, and what is the black PVC pipe glue?

I'll get a pipe extender ready - thanks! The wiki page you linked mentions both a 'socket saver' to drill out the pipe from the fitting and also the heat gun method. Between socket saver and heat gun, which method is better? Update: After checking out a few videos like this, heat gun it is.

Pool PVC pipe cracked near concrete - how to fix, and what is the black PVC pipe glue?

I'm planning to cut above the ball valve - between the ball valve and the cracked elbow. Hope that prevents from having to cut close to the concrete. I'll be extra careful, thanks for the heads up.

Pool PVC pipe cracked near concrete - how to fix, and what is the black PVC pipe glue?

If I use the heat gun method and remove the fitting, then should I use some solvent to remove the remnants of the pipe glue before I use new pipe glue to install the new fittings?

Pool PVC pipe cracked near concrete - how to fix, and what is the black PVC pipe glue?

Planned obsolescence I guess. I would get them back to fix it even paying my own money for their poor installation. But they are not even returning calls to come out to do the work. So I want to find my own way to fix this. What is this black PVC cement? Is there such as thing or did they use...

Pool PVC pipe cracked near concrete - how to fix, and what is the black PVC pipe glue?

My pool plumbing has a crack in the PVC elbow in the return line close to concrete in the equipment pad. I tried to patch it using the epoxy + fiberglass tape leak fixing kit from home depot, but I have a strong suspicion that it will leak when I pressure test it tomorrow. Is there a way to fix...

Pentair Clean&Clear quality issues - Rust and Pressure Gauge thread breaking

I have a Clean and Clear 420 installed in 2020. pH and chlorine are both controlled with IntelliChem/IntelliChlor (SWCG) connected to IntelliCenter. The band is rusted and the filter cartridges are fully discolored due to rust. I use Pentair automation equipment and I thought it should maintain...

    Coverstar WiFi touchpad registration problem

Mine only worked with WPS, it would not work if I entered the WPA key manually.

    Coverstar WiFi touchpad registration problem

I contacted my installer's distributor's tech support person and gave the MAC ID, who in turn contacted Latham and got my MAC ID added to their server. I then registered my device successfully on the CoverStar - Sign In website. Now I get notifications on my email and text message. There's a...

    Coverstar WiFi touchpad registration problem

That's a nice clean pad. I'll get a picture of mine sometime. There's a small black PoE injector that's inside the top part of the IntelliCenter. I'm guessing you'd bypass it if you use an ethernet connection instead of the EnGenius.

    Coverstar WiFi touchpad registration problem

@gingrbredman - did your IntelliCenter have the same EnGenius external wifi antenna? Was it plugged into a PoE injector that provides its power supply? I want to hardwire my IntelliCenter into ethernet, but I don't have the ethernet cable to my pad yet. Wifi is working well for now. This might...

    Coverstar WiFi touchpad registration problem

My intellicenter connected without any issues using its wifi adapter. There's an EnGenius wifi adapter (aka 'external antenna') which is plugged via ethernet into a PoE injector inside the IntelliCenter. I entered the wifi WPA2 passphrase into the IntelliCenter touchscreen and it just worked. It...

    Coverstar WiFi touchpad registration problem

@wgipe - happy to be of help. My touchpad's MAC ID is not recognized by the coverstar connect server - same issue that @nopain00 reported at the top of this thread. I'm chasing after Latham to get it resolved now.

    Coverstar WiFi touchpad registration problem

Spent several hours on this and finally got it to connect. The documentation said the touchpad supports open, WPA-PSK (TKIP) and WPA2-PSK for wireless security. But only 'open' (no security) worked on my UniFi wireless network. I tried all different security options via both the touchpad itself...

    Coverstar WiFi touchpad registration problem

I got the Coverstar touchpad with wifi today. My pool cover contractor installed it. It just wouldn't connect to wifi. I tried using the touchpad, using a wifi-connected mobile phone's browser as well as my laptop's browser - both using the dropdown menus and using the command prompt through the...

Thank you. I can install a wifi extender if needed. I have two wireless APs in my home and I have good signal. My pool cover contractor is coming to install it but I'm able to install it if needed.

ID a skimmer model with a conch on its lid and finding a float valve for it

I have a 20+ year old pool in my house that I have renovated. The main drain is connected to the skimmer and the skimmer to the pump. Currently, all the suction in my pool is from the skimmer, not the main drain. This is not helping much with filtering the plaster brushing since my pool got...

Indoor residential inground gunite pool renovation - replaster and all new equipment

Quoting myself - before the pool renovation was started, my equipment contractor pressure tested the plumbing at my request. The vacuum line had a leak but the suction and return lines were fine. So we capped off the vacuum line opening inside the pool since we don't really need it. So I'm...

Indoor residential inground gunite pool renovation - replaster and all new equipment

I'll do the bucket test. Thanks. I appreciate your thoughts on the color. I understand the physics behind the water looking blue but I wasn't sure if the color would look markedly different even on the first step.

It feels smooth to the touch but right now, I can only touch the steps. I can't get into the pool yet. I'll post some pics. Pics added @Nikilyn - I've got the Martinique color.
