    Is stamped concrete dangerously slick

Our stamped concrete is still new. The contractor added "shark bite" to add a bit of texture and keep it from being slippery. It is still very slippery. Definitely no running zone! I walk with trepidation when my feet are wet and a friend slipped and fell. I now have a mat at the stairs for...

My Pool Build - St. Charles MO

We just had our pool completed in August. We are in St. Charles as well. (Flint Hill /Wentzville) We probably met with your pool builder since we interviewed quite a few! I would advise you go see the concrete contractors work and see colors. The colors we selected off a chart were no where...

What if I just don't cover my pool this winter?

I was thinking of the savings. We are getting quotes of $3500 - $4000 for a mesh cover. Was avoiding a solid because of the weight. We have a large irregular shape pool. The pool guy was charging I believe $500 to drill the anchors into our pretty new stamped concrete and warned that we can...

What if I just don't cover my pool this winter?

Interesting ! We are shopping for a cover for our new pool. The idea of leaving it uncovered and saving $$$$ is tempting. What is a leaf net? We have a tree line 50 feet north of our pool and another tree line 80+ feet west. ( 3.5 acre lot) We are in St. Charles MO near St.Louis

    Dead Laminar lights.

Had them on the week after Labor day they were fine. Turned them on this week 3 duds. When I looked into "slot" there is no light emitted. I will get hold of a Pentair rep I suppose. Want to fix it before we close the pool.

    Dead Laminar lights.

Our new pool looked awesome with it's four laminar magicstream fountains lit up at night. Now, 2 month later, 3 of our 4 laminars have no lights, only fountain operating. The one laminar that is still lit up seems to be very dim from decking up to arch of the fountain. These were a gift from my...

Upgrades -best bang for the buck?

Doing the cantilever edge in a stamped concrete then the remainder decking brushed looks nice. Stamped concrete can be hot on your feet, and slippery when wet even with shark bite added to the sealer. IMHO Water feature -fountains, laminar jets add a WOW factor to be enjoyed even from a...

Our neighbors expect an invitation to swim...

Learning how to handle these dilemmas with our new pool. I invited my sister-in-law to bring her children ages 7 and 10 over to swim in our new pool. She said they were busy that day but that she would "drop off the kids and their 3 friends the following day while she went to the gym and went...

converting mesh template to safety cover ?

Our PB is a small local business, less than 5 pools a year, he charges us what he is charged on items, gives us copies of the receipts or we pay subcontractors direct. He charges us a flat labor cost as our general contractor. I have photos of our pool under "new pool in time for fall " in new...

new pool completed before fall weather.

Thanks ! Our teenage sons are on the swim team and we wanted nice lap lanes with room for me to be undisturbed on my floatie ! We love the Laminar light "magic-streams" They sync with the pool lights and can be set on different modes, Caribbean, romance, party(disco) ......very fun! Labor day...

converting mesh template to safety cover ?

PB just sent me these. Are these my ABs and do I just send them off for quotes? ( files too big to attach) last 2 files had whole list of coordinates. So I assume this it it. The template we bought looks like Latham's heavy mesh cover material. It has the heavy binding like a cover but no...

converting mesh template to safety cover ?

Our PB insisted we have a template made to layout our freeform pool, preconstruction. Said it would be around $150. We were surprised when it came in at over $500 , made of what looks like a heavy mesh cover with heavy bound edges. PB reassured us at close time we could have extra fabric and...

Filling new pool with well water?

Thanks everyone. It is a vinyl liner pool and my pool contractor states he does not want to hang around for days waiting for my pool to fill, and risk getting wrinkles in the liner. (drama-queen) ! I think we will end up supplementing with well water as the trucks bring in most of the water.

Filling new pool with well water?

I don't know the quality of our well water, and hadn't considered the wear on our pump. It would be nice to start with clean city water since we are late in the season and want to start enjoying it right away! Did I mention it was 101 here in St. Louis today? Thanks! I will try to post photos.

Filling new pool with well water?

We are getting close to completion on our inground vinyl liner pool. It is a big one. 50' x 32' - 24' free form depth 9' to 42" with bonus shallow cove., roughly 45,000 gallons. Our contractor told me I need to line up my water hauling. This is another $2000 I hoped we could avoid. His reasoning...

    patio furniture

We fell in love with a patio set at Armini's in the St. Louis area, but thought it was too expensive. Then everything else I looked at paled by comparison. I finally found the same set on-line at Max Furniture (Dallas) even with shipping we saved $$$. And I got what I wanted.
