Not sure if my subject is very helpful, but here is a tool I made and attached to my sprinkler pump to fill my pool from a pond behind our house. Hopefully it will help someone else.

Vidsonix has speakers http://www.vidsonix.com/vidsonixnew/info_vxgh72.htm that can be used underwater www.vidsonix.com. I have never used them, but I have used other Vidsonix speakers and you can't beat their quality for the price. Might be able to make them work, for much less cost...

Found a new valve after calling around to some local pool places. I replaced it yesterday and added a little water. So far the water has sat for over 12 hrs without any leak. I think I have that part fixed, now I just have to fill it...

I did the math one time and just to refill my pool from under the returns, it was about $110 in city water. That was cheaper than the alternative of getting truck delivered water, but not what I would call cheap. My pool is completely empty so I am sure my cost would be a lot greater, more...

I also have a pond behind me with sprinklers fed from it, and with my pool leak (another thread) I will need a lot of water. I may refill from the pond also. City water is pretty expensive.

I agree it should work. I am in the northern states so when I winterize my pool, I drop below the outlets(insert winterize stuff here!) and put the cover on. With the snow and the rain, the cover usually has enough water on top of it to refill the pool. In the spring I just pump the water...
