    Mouse in Pool Heater

Well, I removed the white plastic air horn or air orifice and stuck a vacuum cleaner hose in there. I was able to suck out some debris. I unplugged all the hoses...blew air through them. I also stuck the vacuum hose down the exhaust elbow. I tapped all around the blower housing to...

    Mouse in Pool Heater

I turned off the breakers........didn't work. I checked all hoses for blockages...they all look OK. I'm not sure what the air orifice or header look like. Here are some pics....any idea on what my next step should be?

    Mouse in Pool Heater

Hi everyone. I switched on my Pentair Mastertemp 300 natural gas pool heater today (first time this season) and it did not fire up. The blower is blowing, and everything seems fine, except it won't ignite. The "service heater" light is on. I took the panels off and took a smaller metal panel off...

Got My TF-100 Test Kit - My Results

I know it's been said thousands of times but -- if it weren't for this site and my TF-100, I 'd hate to think what condition my pool would be in.

Got My TF-100 Test Kit - My Results

Water looks good to me. Deep end is 8 feet, very clear all the way down. :) BTW...I edited my numbers to change TA from 100 to 120 (I mis-typed the first time). I did all the tests twice, to make sure my numbers were consistent. I added stabilizer 2 days ago, so I'll check level again in a...

FC- 5 CC- 0 TA- 120 PH- 7.6 CH- 100 CYA- 35 My pool gets full, direct sun, morning until late afternoon/early evening. Should I raise CYA level? Should I be concerned with raising CH level even though I have vinyl liner? BTW-water is clear. Thanks

    Ordered TF-100

HI, ordered a TF-100 test kit with XL and Speed Stir options. Is there any way to find out if it has shipped or when it's expected to ship? The reason I ask is because it's being shipped to an address 90 minutes away from me, and I need to confirm it has arrived before I set aside 3 hours for...

    Suction Side Leak found?

I replaced the two clamps and tightened them with a screwdriver....still had air being sucked in. So I tightened them further with a socket wrench and that solved the problem. The pump is no longer sucking in air. While I was at it, I tightened all the other clamps as well, including the return...

    Suction Side Leak found?

Yeah, everything in front of the poly pipes has been redone. The pool has a vinyl liner.

    Suction Side Leak found?

The pool was built in the 1980s...I'm guessing black poly is what was used. The near side of the pool is 20 feet from the equipment pad.

    Suction Side Leak found?

The pipe isn't damaged, it was leaking at the elbow because it seems the clamps weren't tight enough. I have new clamps which I'll try.

    Suction Side Leak found?

Well, I did some digging and isolated the suction side leak to the skimmer pipe. Main drain runs fine. Just to make sure, I filled the hole in the ground with water, and sure enough the leak stopped. I have added a couple of pictures which I believe show that my underground pipes are black...

    Suction Side Leak found?

I appreciate the replies. There are far less bubbles if I select main drain only.

    Suction Side Leak found?

Hi, I've been chasing a suction side leak, which I thought I had isolated to my suction side Jandy valve. I was wrong. I have churning water and bubbles in my pump basket, but I have found that if I pour a half bucket or so of water on the ground below where my suction pipes (main drain and...

I need advice on my Jandy Valves...

Spent the weekend learning all I could about my pool. Here's the info. Rectangular 33' by 16' (22,000 gallons) built in mid 1980's. New vinyl liner. One skimmer and one main drain. Four return jets (2 are by the steps). Hayward sand filter (dont know model or size...do I just measure the...

I need advice on my Jandy Valves...

Hi....I moved into a house with a pool late last summer. (inground pool 16x33...22000 gallons) I've learned how to test and maintain my water. But I can't figure out how my Jandy valves should be set. I get turbulence in the window of my pump filter. I've enclosed a pic of the setup. BTW...I...

New Pool Cover Coming - Closing Question

Hi, I'm still new at pool ownership, so this might be a dumb question. I have a new mesh safety cover coming in 2 to 3 weeks. I also need to make an appointment to close my inground pool here in Toronto, Ontario. If I can't get the pool closing guys to show up on the same day the cover...

    Pool Newbie....Is my pool OK?

Hi, first time here, and first time pool owner. Just bought a house which was built in 1986. I'm sure the pool was built at the same time. I had guys from the local pool place come out to measure for a new vinyl liner. I was at work when the workers showed up to remove the old liner, so I...
