    Adding Cyanuric Acid to Pool

Yeah, there were quite a few june bugs in there before I took the picture. I imagine if I left the light on for a couple of nights, it would make a pretty nice june bug trap and solve my grub issue.

    Adding Cyanuric Acid to Pool

These fit perfectly over my skimmer baskets. I tried taking a skimmer basket out, pouring it, and then placing it back in, but the CYA tried to float out. If I left the basket in place and poured the CYA slowly in, the suction kept in place. CYA was gone in a couple of hours, no more squeezing.

    Adding Cyanuric Acid to Pool

This forum has been so helpful to me over the past decade, I figured that maybe I could return the favor. Each year I open my pool my cyanuric acid levels are at zero. Following the advice of the forum, I typically put it in a sock and either put it in the skimmer basket or next to a jet. It is...

Question for onBalance or someone who knows about CaCl

Pretty sure I am a victim of dry troweling or too much Calcium Chloride being added to my recently remodeled pool. However, I have yet to find someone willing to diagnosis it as such. My water is not aggressive. Typically are as follows: PH - high 7s or 8 TA - 80-90 FC - 4-5 Ca - 420 CYA 40...

What's the damage cleaner left out of pool

Made the mistake of trusting someone else to use my pool this morning. They swam in the pool after removing the pool cleaner, but they didn't replace the cleaner. Came home to find that my pool Aqualink ran the cleaning program just as it was supposed to. Besides the 1,000 gallons of water I...

    Intelliflo worth $500 more?

And that might be the deciding factor. I would like to build a patio about 5 feet away from the pump. It would be nice not to have to yell at one another.

    Intelliflo worth $500 more?

I have a 23,000 gallon pool with a 10 plus year old PACFAB Challenger 2.0 HP pump. I need to replace it. I was looking at a 1.5 HP WhisperPro. When I asked their service department, a local pool company said that pump cost $599.99 plus $200.00 for installation and setup up. Then I had the...

Replacing old pump w/ energy efficient model

Re: Performance Curve Question Not for sure if I understand "spa suction plumbing". Can you elaborate? Meant to check the pipe size last night. Pretty sure it is 2 inch. I am trying to get the specs from the builder but they are at a conference this week. Here is my setup...

Replacing old pump w/ energy efficient model

Thanks Jason. Yes, I have quite a bit of experience with PVC plumbing, my biggest concern is the wiring. Trying to figure out if a $300 installation fee is worth it or not.

Replacing old pump w/ energy efficient model

Re: Performance Curve Question I do have a spa with 6 jets. Everything that I read said 15-25 GPM per jet. Best case scenario, I would need 90 GPM minimum right? Don't get me wrong, I probably would run the pump 95% at the low setting, as we need to have the heater replaced before we can...

Replacing old pump w/ energy efficient model

Performance Curve Question Just delving into pool hydraulics. Site has been a great help. Right now I have a PacFab Challenger 2 HP Pump with a 1.10 service factor. Have a PacFab Nautilus FNS 60 DE filter that can handle 120 GPM. Took a peek at the current Pentair Challenger 2 HP Pump...

Replacing old pump w/ energy efficient model

Looked again, and I don't have a Pentair Challenger. It is a Pac-Fab. Did Pentair purchase them? or is it Pentair's off-brand? Just wondering if there is a way to figure out how old it is. Don't know that it matters? Probably will end up going with the 2 HP power Whisperflo. Are they tough...

Replacing old pump w/ energy efficient model

Thank you for your response. Do I need a 2HP or would a 1.5 HP suffice? My only concern is my spa has 6 jets.

Replacing old pump w/ energy efficient model

Have been a new pool owner all of about 8 months. Last owner didn't care for the pool whatsoever. After having the pool replastered and the coping replaced, I am now looking at replacing my primary pump. I ran the pump for about an hour and it appears that it is consuming about 3 kwh. Right...

    Solution for Hard Troweling

FC=7 CC=0 CYA=70 PH=7.4* TA=90 CH=450 *I have a fountain that runs consistently and my PH fluctuates quite a bit from 8.0 to 7.2 after I add MA. CH has had been at 350, but then I did a super shock to kill some mustard algae. In June I was a pool noob, but quickly found this site. For about...

    Solution for Hard Troweling

Reading through numerous posts, wondering if someone might be able to help me out. I had my pool replastered 5 months ago. Within a month I noticed grey mottling on the sides and on the floor of the pool. I was trying to figure out if it was scaling or not, but I have come to the conclusion...

    What size heater to get???

I don't know why I am even considering this right now (temps in Dallas area have been over 100 for the past 40+ days with no rain), but I need a new heater for my pool. I say pool, but I really have no desire to heat my pool whatsoever. I really just need a heater for my spa. Total noob when...
