    New Pebble Questions

The tile was actually very, very easy. We did buy a water level and that helped a great deal in staying level. We used thin sheets of mdf and nailed them in around the pool for our line once we had it marked out. Use standard thinset - we used a fortifying additive just in case - and spread it...

    New Pebble Questions

Tile: MasterTile on Rutland - We had to order through Tile Guy, they will pass on their reduced price. We laid it ourselves. Coping: We bought our stone from Bedrock on 620 N. We hand cut the slabs to fit around the pool. Lights/Electrical: We snagged the guys next door at our neighbors...

    New Pebble Questions

We are ending up draining the pool and doing some work on the pebble before another acid wash and refill. The company has been extremely responsive and will be paying the water cost of refill and will have it done by next week. They have said if I am not happy with the job they will repebble...

    Kolbasinskis' Finished DIY pool remodel!

We did it! It's done. Okay, not completely done. We have a couple of deck-meets-coping-patching and then pouring our deck-o-seal in the expansion joint....but really, it feels done! We are off on Friday and I have a ton of plants to pot and get all our summer stuff out and dusted off. Oh -...

    New Pebble Questions

Our pebble was sprayed Friday. Saturday they came and acid washed and did some "patching" on some areas. We put in a sandy colored pebble and there were several places where the fat was more concentrated than the pebble. They actually chipped out the fat spots and pebble reapplied or patched...

    Tile grout for saltwater pool

Duraleigh is right. Go to Home Depot and get your mastic and grout there. Many times, what you get at HD is better than what some of the contractors use.

    Polaris 280 vs 380

We currently have a 380 and need a new one. I read many reviews that say the 280 is actually preferred. Any opinions? We just have the regular entry steps, no special features in the pool. 18K gallon pool. Also, has anyone bought equipment from www.poolsupplies4less? Thanks.

    Copper and Green Hair

Apparently it was just the heater. Whatever happened to it to dump copper in the water just ruined the plaster. Surprisingly enough, the plaster itself was in excellent condition for being 20 years old. Just the color was mottled. Of course, when we drained it to start demo, it started...

    Copper and Green Hair

Our chems are spot on. My husband keeps them perfect. Where we got this information is the guys at the local pool store. When I complained about fighting the green hair, the first thing they mentioned was metal in the water. My husband jumped in and they had a chem discussion and sure...

Good online source for pool umbrellas

If you have a Garden Ridge close by they are a good bet. I bought three market umbrellas there last year for $40 each. Great umbrellas. We bought dark blue and they have faded to medium blue. Now we take them down and put them on the covered patio each evening after a day in the sun.

    Copper and Green Hair

First let me be clear, I'm not the chem person in our family. When we bought our house the existing pool (20 years) had white plaster discolored to blue. I understood from the previous owners' pool guy that this was caused by the heater going bad and copper coming into the pool. The heater...

    Beach colored pebble product

We are looking at a beach colored pebble product and I'm curious what it actually looks like with water in it. Our pebble company is finding us some pools to view with a beach colored pebble but I'd like comments from the board on it. Thanks!

DIY Pool Remodel Update Things are going great! We had our coping stone delivered and got right to work cutting the stone. It took us a couple of days to get the routine down. We had been set up to cut by the pool but moved quickly to the driveway. Now we pull a piece off the stack in the...

    DIY Pool Remodel Pictures

Demo is completed and we are waiting on sandblasting. Once that is done we'll work on putting everything back in place and then have it plastered. We are building out the spa front and will tile the front instead of using stone again. We are using Brown Lueders for the coping and I picked up...

    Restarting after Replaster

We've been told by a couple of people to invest the money in having a pool company restart our pool after replastering. Why is this? I know there is quite a bit of brushing and vacuuming involved after new plaster/restart. Is it worth the $600 to have someone do this? We handle the chems and...
