SLAM for 13 days, when to stop?

Hmm. OK. Thanks for the advice. I think I will let it drop and see what happens to the water clarity. Hopefully it is pollen, but also upsetting that it's always gonna be at the bottom of my pool if so!

SLAM for 13 days, when to stop?

Is it typical to slam for almost an entire month and not have it go away? It does poof away, but also is kinda weird looking, it gets caught in my vacuums filter too, dunno if it's a mixture of two things maybe. I linked a picture a few posts above. A month long slam is running through my...

SLAM for 13 days, when to stop?

OCLT was 0 loss. 0.5 ppm CC. Do I continue shocking? Still stuff at the bottom of the pool.

SLAM for 13 days, when to stop?

Soooo.... I never did an OCLT. I am in nursing school and finals week hit hard. I kept it at 20 and never let it dip below four. Still got lots of algae. I did brush and there was some under the lip. I was hoping that was the solution. But the algae continued to accumulate. Is it pollen...

SLAM for 13 days, when to stop?

Yeah, I think that may be a part I need to actually get into the pool and address, haha. The overlap that circles the perimeter is really hard to get with a brush. What a pain. Last test was with 5ml, should I retest with 10 to do the OCLT?

SLAM for 13 days, when to stop?

Hey all. I started with a green pool. It's currently sparkling and clear enough to see if a quarter is heads or tails. I have not done an OCLT, because I have been waiting for the algae to clear up from the bottom. While it has gotten drastically better since the beginning, I am still vacuuming...

    Dirt or algae?

Hi all. It's been a bit but I wanted to share my discovery with anyone who might have had the same problem as me. I was SLAMing correctly but really using the wrong type of vacuum head to completely vacuum and remove the dead algae. I was originally using an Intex vacuum head that had bristles...

    Dirt or algae?

No it's a pretty plain Jane pool. I have one plastic return, and two intakes. I do have an attachable skimmer but it looks free of algae.

    Dirt or algae?

I think I've been slamming for about 5 days now, vacuuming every day, brushing almost everyday. I am still getting spots of algae mounds on the bottom. Is there a way to speed this up? I have noticed a *slight* reduction in the amount, but it feels they appear as soon as an hour after vacuuming...

    Dirt or algae?

Gotcha. It's a 14 foot vinyl pool, no lights, I'll check the ladder tho. Just added more chemicals this morning and changed the filter. Could I just brush the algae so it gets sucked into the pump? Vacuuming is very time consuming haha.

    Dirt or algae?

16 FC. Water is crystal clear. I have around 40 cya in my pool. I am using 10% HDX liquid shock, which from my understanding is just concentrate bleach. So you're saying as long as it's accumulating on the bottom I shouldnt stop slamming? It's very hard to tell, should I be vacuuming 3 to 4...

    Dirt or algae?

Water is clear, sparkling even. But I still have tons of gathered "dirt" or algae. I have passed my OCLT, I am wondering if it's fine dirt my filter can't catch? I have very fine, claylike dirt that is almost hydrophobic at times. I have a cartridge filter. I feel like I vacuum it up and it's...

    Fluctuating FC

Okay that sounds like a plan. Perhaps I should start testing at night also so I can get an idea how much FC I am losing after kids are in the pool. Otherwise it seems pretty stable and clear.

    Fluctuating FC

It’s 6% bleach. I have been adding what pool math suggests each time. I raise it to the top, I just worry when I test in the morning and it’s below parameters that it’s low enough that something will take hold KWIM? I’m not complaining haha, just worried about it dipping below what it should...

    Fluctuating FC

How much is too much? Last week I SLAMed successfully, although I ran out of reagent which was backordered - I got the new reagent and tested last Friday, everything was within range, .5 ppm CC. I had been adding around 2-3 cups of bleach blindly during the week I was waiting for my reagent to...

On my intex the legs sit behind the band. Maybe you should call them and make sure this will work with your frame?

CYA, dirt clods, and free chlorine

 I have a bit left and I ordered it on Amazon and it should be here next week. I hope this clears fast so I don't run out of reagent!

CYA, dirt clods, and free chlorine

Day 2, didn't pass overnight, definitely algae, definitely continuing SLAM. I'm assuming it's normal for CC to climb as FC kills off algae and contaminants? I'm running out of FAS/DPD titrating reagent and Amazon is on back order....does anyone know where to get this stuff in person in Los...

CYA, dirt clods, and free chlorine

Just an update. After bumping it up to 10, I forgot to do an overnight test (cus zzz), but I didn’t treat it at all today (have an giant test coming up) and when I finally got home to test it, it was at a 1.5 FC again and 1 CC. I started the SLAM process tonight and set my alarm. After the...

CYA, dirt clods, and free chlorine

Ok. So me being me, I figured I would test again after I added some water (kids were splashing a lot) before I shocked. Before when I tested the first time I had the filter going but the bag was on, and it doesn’t really circulate super well with the bag, so I took it off and let it run for...

CYA, dirt clods, and free chlorine

I don’t think the app updated, I just tested it 30 minutes ago and it was between 30 and 40. I have read all of pool school, and am definitely glad I found it! I am using a Taylor FAS/DPD kit.

CYA, dirt clods, and free chlorine

About 3 weeks ago my 3 year old threw 3 dirt clods in our above ground vinyl pool (14’x42”). I immediately shocked and vacuumed, but it seemed since my dirt is VERY fine, the filter (a cartridge) wasn’t catching it all. I would have a layer of dirt on the bottom even after running the filter...
