From my skimmer it runs about 30 feet and then the PVC makes a 90 degree turn upwards. I KNOW that in that turn I still have some blockage. I bought a roto-rooter thing, and got that cleaned out a bit, a while back. You can't use a motor operated one, that I've found, as the bits are to big...
Re: Going on vacation for 9 days...what to do?
Came home to a pool "slightly" having algae started. Very happy with the minimal algae start. Zapped it yesterday, killed it, and crystal clear pool and bottom. Did have to brush it to perfect it, but it's gorgeous. Pump never ran while I was...
I use mine through the suction under the skimmer and it works GREAT! I've had it several months and this thing is amazing thus far. I personally have little to compare it to other than the Barracuda with the little squiggly things on the outside, but couldn't be happier with this product so...

Re: Going on vacation for 9 days...what to do?
I'm putting in 6 gallons, 1 quart, to bring it up from 1 to 27. 27 is mustard algae shock level so hopefully that will hold til I get home. Maybe I should make it even higher for 9 days gone? I have no timer on my pump so the pump won't run at...
So you can shock it up to 16, put the bubble cover stuff over it without the pump running for 9 days, and you think it wouldn't be a mess when you get back? Won't that cover bring the temp in the pool real high when you're running 105+ days?

15K gal pool and had about 15-20 people in there the whole time from about 3 p.m. Sunday until about midnight. Chlorine was at 4 before the party. PH was 7.5. CYA 45. T/A 90. After they were in there for a few hours I saw the pool clouding and added a pound of shock. I put the brisket on...
TY! I have a little bubble cover stuff and will put that in the pool too. Shock it up and put a few tabs in the floating chlorine thing. Not gonna run the pump the whole time I'm gone, and have no timer on it. Ought to work.
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!
JJ
What should I do in advance of leaving as far as chemistry????? Won't be anyone to touch the pool while I'm gone. I suppose I'm going to have to leave the pump on for the full 7 days I'm gone?
Daytime temps here are running about 105 - 110. I'm going to the mountains to escape the heat...
According to the Pool Calculator, I need 3.5 cups of muriatic acid. I'm adding 2 cups and see how that reads in the morning. Had some chlorine smell tonight.

I think the experts here will tell you your pH is way too low (should be about 7.5 I think) and your TA should be about 80-100. You're definitely SHOCKED, but the sun will take care of that in a few days. Don't know much, but you shouldn't have any algae this week. LOL BTW, I wouldn't let...
Most of my chemical levels are quite good, aren't they...except for the current pH of 8.0 to 8.2, and it is nearer 8.2 with my eyes? I definitely have to bring that pH down. We'll swim here in a bit and I'll do it after Gin gets out of the pool. She doesn't swim underwater with her eyes open...
BTW, I haven't made a contribution to the site yet, but will be sending a $50 check. I don't like giving credit card info out, but you folks have definitely helped me, and I appreciate it. I think I'm going to switch to a salt system so I don't have some of the Crud I have to deal with, but...
Don't think so. I measured it with a 50 ft tape measure to be sure it was exact in overall length and width. It's liver shaped, and don't remember the measurements at the moment, but I measured depth with my pole, put my finger at the water line, brought it out of the pool at both ends, and...
The box says 20 Mule Team Borax (got the little pic of the wagon and mules, etc.). I just bought a 4 lb. box of it so not a big box, but had enough to put 47 ounces of dry weight in there, which is what the calculator told me to do.
I thought maybe something was off that made it do that? I...

I have a 15K gal pool and chart said to put 47 oz by weight of Borax in there to raise it from 7.2 to 7.5. I weighed it out exactly with a digital scale (put the container on there and it registers Zero and then increases by weight of...
All I can say is it's been AWESOME for us! I LOVE IT! It will not do stairs, but I put that thing in there for about 2 1/2 hours and my pool is pretty much spotless, except for the stairs. I had the Barracuda G3 before, and that's the only one I've ever had before so my ONLY experience with...
MX8 is GREAT! We LOVE it! Don't have a huge pool like some, but this thing had the pool clean in about 2 1/2 hours. Easy to get going. It will not do stairs, which is fine. I think I'm in LOVE! Does kick up some off the bottom that you have the filter out, but other than that I'm very...
