    Plaster stain removal over winter?

The CYA was 40 last time I checked it. I'm fine to raise RC if that will help. I'm curious what is more damaging to the pool if the water is full. A lower PH level or a higher FC level? As well, which would be more effective to remove the plaster stains?

    Plaster stain removal over winter?

I have been working on removing stains on my plaster pool walls and floor all summer. Lots of brushing and have kept the FC above normal, around 6-10ppm. The stains have softened up some but I was hoping they would be gone by the time I had to close the pool. My plans are to close the pool in...

    Remove stains from plaster pool

Sounds like a plan. I'll do as you guys advise and raise the FC level up a bit and see how things progress. I guess it's just time to enjoy the water!

    Remove stains from plaster pool

Looks like they stains are absolutely organic. I took a large puck and scrapped a section. It seemed to help. So, I let it sit on the floor for a bit and kept checking on it. After around 45 mins, there was a completely clean circle under it. Now, what is the best way to scrap around the floor...

    Remove stains from plaster pool

You may very well be correct. I'll try the Vitamin C tablet in one area and the puck in another area. I'll report back with the results.

Is there a procedure for the vitamin C treatment?

    Remove stains from plaster pool

I am completely fine with it taking time. My concern is basically the best way to alleviate them. So if shock is around 10-12 ppm, should I plan to keep the CL around 6-8 ppm?

How high is 'elevated'? I've also read about lowering PH levels for a week or so will help to "acid wash". The water would obviously be un-swimmable but is that a suitable option? https://blog.intheswim.com/no-drain-pool-acid-wash/

    Remove stains from plaster pool

Thanks for the link. I recently purchased the house and can only assume they are organic. I removed 4-5 wheel barrow full of leaves, sticks, etc from the pool when I initially opened it. So that had been sitting at the bottom of the pool for several years.

    Remove stains from plaster pool

After several weeks, my pool water is finally looking good! All of the water chemical levels are excellent, per my test results and the local pool supply. Anyway, I'm now left with stains all over the plaster floor and part of the walls. What are my best options to help alleviate some of the...

    Backwash not working anymore?

I do not have any pictures with me. I know that the valve body is a SP714T and the sand filter is S244T. I think I tried waste and it worked. I'll try again later today when I get back to the house.

    Backwash not working anymore?

Little history on my situation - Purchased a home where the pool sat without a cover and unused for 3 years. The pool is 15 x 34 ft rectangle and roughly 15,000 gallons. There was a LOT of debris I've been pulling out. I would run the pump on and off to circulate the water. After initially...

Need help clearing up a swamp!

The pool is a rectangle plaster pool. Based on the measurements I provided to the local pool store, it's roughly 15,000 gallons. I will add what I know to the signature here. So CYA will typically be sold as "pool stabilizer"? According to the Pool Math calculator, I need to add 5lbs 11 ounces...

Need help clearing up a swamp!

The shock I used was the calcium hypochlorite type. When I checked the Pool Math calculator, it says to add 31 lbs of Calcium Chloride to get Calcium hardness into check. Is that correct? I'm not sure what the sock method is for adding CYA. I'll take a look unless someone has a link? Any...

Need help clearing up a swamp!

Just tested the water myself and had a sample tested at the local pool supply place. My results with the Taylor kit FC = 1.5 ppm (used the 10 ml line) CC = 1 ppm TA = 80 ppm CH = 80 ppm CYA = less than 30 PH = 7.4 Print out from the pool supply store. The water was in the container for roughly...

Need help clearing up a swamp!

Ok, it could definitely make sense if I didn't test the water correctly. It was the first time I used the test. I'll test again later this evening and see what the results are. What should I do about the cloudy water for now? Should I assume that the sand filter is going to eventually filter it...

Need help clearing up a swamp!

I'm just starting on getting my pool opened up for the year (I just bought the house). It has been sitting under a cover since 2016. There were a few things I did before starting the steps to get this mess cleaned up. 1.) Had electrician come out and check all of the wiring, timer, pump etc...
