(New) Spa Blower shuts off after five minutes

I am stumped. I replaced my spa blower a few months ago with the same model (240v, 1hp, 2.6 amps). The blower runs for about five minutes and shuts off. I put in a bleed valve to divert some of the air pressure away from the spa return. That did not make a difference. I thought the outside...

Thinking of putting in a SWG and would love some thoughts!

You may be shocked by how much lower your electricity usage will be after you experiment with slower pump speeds. I was very shocked when I changed from a 3hp single speed to a VS. My average usage went from 2800kWh/month to 800-1000/month. I had just installed a home solar system and could have...

High Calc Hardness with SWG ?

My thoughts exactly after I checked my levels...WTH! I do watch my pH on a daily basis. I tried a water exchange a few years ago but did not drain enough water to make an impact. ...local water is not a problem (Dallas Water Utilities).

High Calc Hardness with SWG ?

Has anyone faced having a SWG with high calcium hardness (~1000-1050)? It's taken me a long time to find a good place to install one due to having limited pipe. After my pool remodel three years ago, the guy that adjusted the chemicals added enough chem to get the hardness up to 900. I have...

    Frozen Pool Pics 🥶

I have solar which now produces more electricity than I use because I went from a single speed pump to variable-speed right after the solar install. I don't have the Powerwall but have considered it. The threads I've read on other sites from homeowners with Powerwall is that it works great to...

What does your pool paradise look like?

At the time of the photo, no tracks. Some appeared later in the week. EDIT... I just realized what looks like tracks to the right of the hot tub are actually the ropes used to tie the Skamper ramp to the deck.

Any risk in running pump in 10 degree weather without a heater?

I'm sorry I did not see your original post before this mess started. Now that we are coming out of this weather I can tell you what worked for me (with an in-floor cleaning system) just as a reference. My equipment is next to my fence on the south side of the house (away from the house)...

Haha... There was a time when she was a one-year-old and did not care about the temperature of the water...I had to erect a fence around the pool to keep her out!

How are my fellow Texans doing this morning lol

Far North Dallas/Carrollton Tarp covering all equipment as of Feb. 9. Variable speed pump running 24/7 at 2450 rpm. All valves partially open (at a minimum). Air temperature was 8 degrees this morning (Feb. 15) with some patches of ice on the pool surface. Water flow is normal. No power...

500 watt or 400 watt pool light?

I would be disappointed with anything less than 500w. I have found a 500w light dimmed to half takes on more of a brown tint, so I would suspect a 300w to do the same; maybe even the 400w. (I hardly ever used my 500w light. Since replacing it with an LED light, I now use it every morning and...

Temporary pool fence or "My Daughter's Labrador is insane"

I have a two year old Westie. When she was four months old (April), I started taking her in the pool so she would be comfortable swimming and know how to get out of the pool. Fast forward to November (11 months old) and she continues to go for a swim despite cold weather and 50-60 degree...

    Most efficient use of heater

Personally, I have found it better to run the heater only on days we will swim. If a cold spell moves through, no heat until the next warm day arrives. We heat our pool frequently too.

    Pump Speed and Heating Efficiency

My temperature rise averages 2 degrees per hour during nighttime (cloudy and/or colder) conditions. No cover, 400k heater, 15k pool. The rate will be higher is in daylight/sunny conditions, but the 2 degrees/hour rate has been a dependable predictor.

    Bulb replacement

I recently did the same (INYO bulb and new gasket) for my pool and hot tub. No regrets at all. The bulb (PureColors color changing 35w) should NOT be connected to a dimmer switch. This info is buried in the documentation and easy to miss.

Dog and dirt in the pool

I have used the $20 vac below (which attaches to a garden hose). I also insert a skimmer sock inside the bag to provide better filtration. I did not expect the vac to last too long, but I have had it almost two years. (I save worn out skimmer socks and use those in the vac...then I throw the...

    Pop up head valve? leak

I HIGHLY SUPPORT giving A&A a call. Their web site (aamfg.com) has a way for you to search for installers in your area: On their home page, follow the link in the upper right corner "find a builder". When I started asking for quotes I included a few of their recommended installers and some I...
