    Can this be black algae?

That’s what I originally thought. I don’t remember ever seeing black in the crevices around my steps though.

    Can this be black algae?

I tried to smear it earlier. It didn’t disintegrate enough to smear. It does seem to have a blue green tint to it in bright light. It’s sitting on the pool deck and I just looked at it. It dried into a hard much thinner “string”.

    Can this be black algae?

I have a 35,000 gallon inground SWG vinyl liner pool. Pool chemistry is in line. This afternoon the FC was 7.8 and the CC was zero. PH was 7.4. I use a Taylor 2006 test kit. This evening I noticed black in the crevice around my steps. I used a brush and it peeled out rubbery black strips. It...

    Trouble with Dolphin Deluxe 4

Good news! I took it to a pool store to run a diagnostic on it. It cost $45 but I thought it was at least worth finding out what was wrong with it. They called today and said that it had a bolt that was bent. They had a spare one laying around so all it cost to fix it was the cost of the...

    Trouble with Dolphin Deluxe 4

We bought a house last fall that came with a pool. We have a Maytronix Deluxe 4 robot. It’s worked fine up till now. One time the track slipped off the roller but that was an easy fix. We put it in the pool yesterday and it won’t move. It also seems to want to float. I checked the rollers and...

I've got absolutely no clue where to start!

My guess (remember not an expert) but you may have lost some of the acid to the residual chlorine you had in the pool. What is your chlorine reading now? I ended up in the same situation and went to a pool store and bought locally some Ascorbic acid stain remover. It cost me twice as much for...

I've got absolutely no clue where to start!

Was that for me? I don’t think Strawberryshortcake said that she’s got a salt system. I waited until the chlorine didn’t drop overnight before I turned it back on. I’m keeping a very close eye on my PH. I am keeping it between 7.2 and 7.4. I don’t mind turning the system off and continuing to...

I've got absolutely no clue where to start!

I didn’t see any help from the CU Later. I’ve seen where others have. I bought the big one and kept it in for a month. I wasn’t willing to spend the money to try it again. I did add more Polyquat than recommended - not sure if it was necessary but I was paranoid. I added some every day that my...

I've got absolutely no clue where to start!

I just finished treating for metals and I’m at the slowly bringing chlorine back up stage. My chlorine held last night so I turned the salt generator back on today. This is my third try so I’ve learned a lot! The first time I believed that CU Later would take the metals out of my pool so I...

Hi! I’m following your story. You’ve done such a great job and you’re in the home stretch now! We also bought a house with a pool and have been working through the challenges. Mine is nothing like yours though!! Im just fighting the metals battle. Hang in there.
