Pool resurface needed, fiberglass over gunite or? West Texas

Got my last quote from the local installer this morning. $15,000 for the chip out and white plaster $8,500 for the Aquabright $3,500 for the tile to be replaced This is one expensive adventure. Almost has me wishing we bought a house with a more sound pool.

I do but don't, I had it looked at once and "all was good" but then it started making some bad noises. Haven't had time to mess with it again. Also have well water. Never tested either.

I've read a bunch about people replastering 5-7years and had me worried it was the norm.

The people I talked to hand lay the glass, not sure if it makes a difference. Seems like an interesting process.

It's higher on the list. The older man I talked to on this did say all the old will probably have to come out. He also said the quartz is able to be repolished to extend it's life down the road.

15 years on the fiberglass workmanship and 5 years on the gel coat. In my mind as long as you fiberglass everything shouldn't it work like a fiberglass in ground pool at that point? My search started being interested in the aquabright and I still am, but locating an installer is my problem...

I'm not sure what a job this size should cost is my other problem.

Pool resurface needed, fiberglass over gunite or? West Texas

All of them have talked about needing to break out the old. I assumed that's why the quotes are all so high. The shallow end is far worse than the deep. My old fear with straight plaster is the longevity of it. The warranty they offered was 5 years I think. Fiberglass guys are offering 15 years.

Pool resurface needed, fiberglass over gunite or? West Texas

So I've conquered my chemistry and it now time to address the next elephant in the room. My crumbling pool plaster. When buying the house you could tell it was old but now being in it, it's a lot worse than I'd hoped. Maybe it was always this bad, maybe the added foot traffic was the final straw...

    Sprung a leak

I noticed some standing water from where we had a bush removed. It kept raining off and on so I chalked it up to that. Having some free time today I was able to investigate it. Found a broken 1" line with what I'm guessing is my pool light cord running through it. I'm not she how these are...

Trying to bring back a neglected pool

Hard to make out but that's the drain at the bottom I haven't seen in awhile. There is still filtering to be done but hopefully I can chum the water up enough to get it the rest of the way done.

Trying to bring back a neglected pool

FC: 13 CC: .5 OCLT: 1 For the OCLT being 1, I might be ok with. I checked my FC last night around 6:45pm and our sun doesn't fully set until nearly 9pm, then checked again about 7:15am. I really think I have this beat. Either way I added the last two jugs of chlorine I had to be safe. That...

Trying to bring back a neglected pool

I'm using the pleated now. Used the mesh to help grab up all the leaves, then realized it was kicking the algae and fine dirt out the top one day. For the record, I'm pretty happy with it. I've been running the heck out of it since it came in. I bet it has more hours on it now than what most...
