Pool build starts today (5–16-19) just North of Tampa

Congrats! We are just finishing our build up, started swimming last week, waiting for the salt startup and some final landscaping. We are also just north of Tampa, in Asturia in Odessa. Good choice on the color, glad I could help. Did you get the smoother pebble sheen?

New pool build in Tampa Bay Area, Florida

Small followup... all windows need alarms. Even when the latches are over 54". At least the inspector explained in a very nice way why that is... because inside the home it is very easy for a child to get something to stand on and open the windows. Not so much outside the fence. Logically...

New pool build in Tampa Bay Area, Florida

No, no test kit, and no, I did not test my water prior to filling. I am just not that diligent, I barely remembered to turn off the water last nite! I have had a pool before, and the chemistry of keeping the water balanced just is not my strong suite. I really need my son to live around here, he...

New pool build in Tampa Bay Area, Florida

My builder already "sticks it to me" with the security, that's part of what I am responsible for anyway. To be clear, I could have paid them for adding security, but they admittedly said I was much better off doing it myself and not paying them for it, so I made this choice. And yes...

New pool build in Tampa Bay Area, Florida

Logically, it makes sense. The fence gates do not have to be alarmed or even locked, they just have to be 54" above the ground. Anyone can open them and walk right in and theoretically drown in my pool. The windows inside my home are raised very high, and the window locks are way more than 54"...

New pool build in Tampa Bay Area, Florida

Pebble Tec is done, and water is going in the pool as I type. It looks great to me, although I am not sure what I am supposed to be looking for. There are some whiter pale spots on the sunshelf, but the installer said that is just the difference from part of it being wet and part of it being...

New pool build in Tampa Bay Area, Florida

Thanks @wakerider017 I think we have it handled. Our pool builder came by today to prep for the pebble, and he thinks that our window locks are high enough to pass the code of 54". He said we should be OK going with just the alarms on the doors, and we have enough for that. Worse case scenario...

All the things I wish I knew before our build

We have one of these in our spa. Its just a triple jet manifold, that will act like a back massager. Here is a pic during the install: Our pool isnt done yet so I can't tell you how well it works, but it does look like it will be great.

I have heard the floating alarms are annoying, but we don't have little kids, so it should be okay!

Fence is done... pebble goes in on Wednesday. We do have a small issue, we were going to be getting door and window alarms from a neighbor, but it turns out they gave some away already to another neighbor. Now we are short some alarms. She still has 7 of them, but we need 11 or 12, so 4-5 short...
