    pH & TA relationship

@ajw22 thanks for the reply. I use the clear choice labs test kit today's readings are: pH: 7.8 TA: 90 CH: 400 CYA: 70 FC: 5ppm CC: 0ppm Water temp: 29c / 84f Sorry I don't have a salt reader.. Now I'll re-test it in a few days time and the pH will rise to 8-8.2 with a TA of 100+ so bizarre..

    pH & TA relationship

I never wipe down the reagent tip. I do add 1 drop and put the lid back on. I never try and keep my pH that low, what I'm saying as a reference is if my pH is under 7.8 the TA is around 80, however when it gets to 8-8.2 the TA will jump to 110.. I try to keep my pH at 7.7-7.8 ideally and add...

    pH & TA relationship

Hi all, After having a new pool for about a year now, I'm starting to figure out it's weekly routine on when to add acid. My question is, if my pH is 7.4 TA is usually around 80ppm. However when the pH rises to around 7.8-8 it jumps to 100-120ppm. Is this normal? I find myself adding 2 cups of...

Hi @Rancho Cost-a-Lotta was your waterline ever up to those tiles? Thanks.

Unusual white stain? But isn't calcium..

Thanks for the comments guys & girls! What's weird and I should've mentioned it before is its around the whole pool! I'll try a little acid on there and see if it fizzes.

Unusual white stain? But isn't calcium..

Hi all, I've just bashed washed my in-ground pool in preparation for my holiday's and noticed the following. If I brush/slash with water the marking disappears for a minute before returning. Anyone know what it is? I've never seen this before. Thanks! PH: 7.7 TA: 100 FC: 7 CH: 375 CYA: 70...

    Crazy Fast PH Rise

I had the same problem, I couldn't keep the pH down! Pulling hair as my test kit & pool shop were reading the same TA levels, until I got myself a CCL kit, my TA is stable around 60-80 and I'm not adding acid so frequently! Moral to the story, get yourself a Taylor kit and drop TA down to...

    Algae skimmer box?

Hi all, thanks for the reply. My CYA is @ 70. I noticed the Algae after the last down pour we had here. I've put some chlorine on it and there she goes. Looks like the concrete is still wet! I'm not sure why thats the case - pool was only freshly pebblecrete about 6-8months ago.

    Algae skimmer box?

Hi all, relatively new but found everyone extremely helpful in getting my pool chems sorted. I’ve got a weird one, looks like there’s algae in the skimmer box only.. is this of a concern ? Thanks. Fc @ 6 CC@ 0

Website looks bloody amazing. Are you moving everyone from the pool math website to use the app? Thanks!

In-ground spa aeration (not another aeration post!)

6.6 to 8.6 in a 12 month period!! Whats being pumped into the pipes?? How often do you test your water? I suspect pH weekly? CH, CYA, salt every fortnight? Thanks!

In-ground spa aeration (not another aeration post!)

I feel like my pool too pauses around 7.8! I generally leave it at 7.8 unless the Aussie Gold kit reports an 8. I actually have a log book (best idea!). I generally add 2cups of acid every 3-4 days. Where as the spa needs 1/4 cup acid every second day along with some buffer. Acid pump hey...

Plaster pool & CSI (not another CSI post..)

mknauss, thanks for the prompt response. I understand everyones dislike for pool shops and trust me I'm not listening to them when they say my TA is too low! However, with the posted readings how do you suggest I manage a CSI in the suggested range? Many thanks.

Plaster pool & CSI (not another CSI post..)

Hi mknauss, Are you saying having a CSI of -0.7 & -0.52 isn't a bad thing because of the SWG? With the pebblecrete. FC, CH, CYA and Salt are from my local pool shops computer test system. As I don't have a CCL test kit (as we can't get Taylor kits in Australia) yet! Thank you

Plaster pool & CSI (not another CSI post..)

Hi everyone, New to the forums but finding everyone extremely helpful.. being a new pool owner I'm starting to understand the water chemistry *I think*.. My issue being CSI to ensure no calcium build up. I had to re-plaster (pebbblecrete) our pool due to the previous home owners destroying it...

In-ground spa aeration (not another aeration post!)

Hi AusPool, thanks for the prompt reply. 1. May I ask for your general CH target? I was under the impression to aim between 350-450 2. Will you add acid when your pH creeps above 7.8? I too find my pool likes to sit on 7.8. I'm not sure if I should keep adding acid to bring it down to...

In-ground spa aeration (not another aeration post!)

Hi AUSpool, definitely looking into the CCL kit. I'm currently using the Technix for TA & Aussie Gold for pH. Reason for the CH to move up to 427 is due to additional hardness addition. I guess I'm trying to ensure my CSI is in the -0.3 - 0. Generally how long would you let your pool sit...

digital readout testers vs colour charts

Interesting read AUSpool.. I'm now curious what electronic test system my local pool shop uses. The printed report labels it as 'hardness' so I'm curious if its TH or CH. I only go in for them to check CH & salt. Going to get myself a CLL kit. The SpinTouch website states the software read CH...

AUSPool, do you know if the SpinTouch machine reports total hardness or calcium hardness? Thanks.

digital readout testers vs colour charts

Interesting.. I've had 2x Aussie Gold kits (lot Q 09 17) and the TA is way of like PMan2 results. My Water Technix kit is comparable to the pool shops SpinTouch results. The shop reports TA & Adjusted separately.

In-ground spa aeration (not another aeration post!)

Hi @AUSpool, appreciate the reply! I have been using the Aussie gold 4in1 (only for pH & FC) along https://www.mrpoolman.com.au/products/water-technix-5-in-1-test-kit-pool-spa-chlorine-bromine-ph-alkalinity-acid . Reason being the Aussie gold reports extremely high TA (incorrect) compared to...
