Surprised when looking for chlorine in Murrieta CA (SoCal) coming from FL

So we've been here a year, and quite a year it's been. Great pool season here. Swam until Sept. It's different then Florida that's for sure. We're on a hill and we have almost constant breezes in the afternoon. The pool is warm and with the breeze it's actually a little cool. I found the the 20...

Hello Brian, New to the area, I came from central Florida and Homedepot/Lowes sold 20 Baume/31% MA $12 2 - 1 gallon containers and Leslies and Pinch a Penny sold fresh 10% liquid chlorine in the 2.5 Gal refillable totes for $5. Yeap. Not there now. So learning the ropes here.

Surprised when looking for chlorine in Murrieta CA (SoCal) coming from FL

All looks good with my math. Called and confirmed. Worst case scenario $160. No pool fill waiver, no increase in charge for sewer (its a flat rate/not based on usage), and when I hit the highest tier, that's the max per HCF ($6.73). Thanks all.

Surprised when looking for chlorine in Murrieta CA (SoCal) coming from FL

If I figured this out correctly worst case would be about $160 to fill the pool. Doesn't seem that bad actually. water fee is $6.73 (Tier 4) per HCF (Hundred Cubic Feet), 1 HCF = 748 Gallons. 17000 Gallon pool (estimated) / 748 = 22.73 22.73 * $6.73 = 152.97 ~ $160 Hopefully I'm not...

You are quick. Yeap. Going to home depot for MA and some dimmable LED bulbs and pool thermometer. Awaiting the arrival of a 2-speed motor to swap out. Low is the way to go, High if I need the jets on for the spa. Looking down the road for a SWCG. Got one estimate on RO $550.

    Winterizing

It's personal preference. You don't have to have one, unless local laws say otherwise.

    Winterizing

Mesh safety cover won't allow people to fall through and keep will keep debris out, but water will still go in. You'll still need to vacuum and clean opening.

Fixing a Leak - Plumbing Question

Is it a small drip? I'd leave it if it is. Looks like there's not enough pipe left over once you cut the joints out. You'll end up removing whole sections. You should have at least 3/4 inch or pipe in the connector.

New borate drop test at piscines-apollo vs. test strip

It's just my opinion, but the procedure you're proposing has nothing to do with the original test, it's an alternative test procedure, following a different procedure from the original posting. It should get it's own topic/discussion. I mean no offense, but the proper recognition that your...

Laminars and variable speed pump issue.

It could be the filter clogging up, hence the question about the pool pressure. We need to know the pressure to give a more accurate answer. Higher pressure lower flow, all things considered.

Bearing replacement or motor replacement, also a new shaft seal. Easy fix relatively. A couple hundred dollars only. No need to replace the whole pump.

    Taylor Speedstir Review

Just a follow up, I'm a bit disappointed, but it's my own fault. My Speedstir is dead due to corrosion from getting wet/soaked. Not saying I dropped it in the pool or anything like that. There is no conformal coating to protect the components on the board, I'll get a replacement but will treat...
