    Easytouch setup / wiring help

There is actually already a subpanel from the main panel in the pool equipment pad. That subpanel feeds power to my storage shed, lights for the pool house, outdoor outlets, and all the pool equipment. Actually, now that I am re-reading the advice... Looks like the advice is to run 100A to the...

    Easytouch setup / wiring help

Got it. I understand it now when you put it that way. Makes total sense. Ok. 240V 100A breaker to ET box, then GFCI breakers in the ET box to the pool equipment.

    Easytouch setup / wiring help

Thank you. Is there a benefit to GFCI at subpanel, then GFCI breakers in the easytouch load center? I already have 1x 120V GFCI and 2x 240V GFCI. I need the 120V for the pool light. If I can wire up one 240V GFCI breaker for intelliflo, peristaltic pump, and heater, then I have one left over...

    Easytouch setup / wiring help

Hello. I have decided to upgrade my suntouch to easytouch. The quality of instructions in the pentair manual is well known, so I would like to get some help / confirmation from the experts here. My list of equipment consists of a 240V intelliflo VS + SVRS pump, a 240V raypak gas heater, one...

    Paver BBQ Surround

I can try to answer some of these as I built a landscape wall with these blocks. What you are looking at are not paver blocks, but roman stone blocks that generally measure 8x4x12 (WxHxL). You basically create structures from stacking these blocks together. The smallest basic unit is a square...

    What happened to my FC?

Thanks for the suggestions. I will get some instant conditioner today to get CYA up. Last night I poured in whatever I have left into the pool. By the bottle instructions it would be about 8ppm. In the CYA test it did get more cloudy, but I can still see the dot even at the 20ppm line. I...

    What happened to my FC?

Thanks for pointing me to the CYA to ammonia problem. I tested CYA and I have 0-20. Last I tested about a month ago, it was at 30. Turns out the chemicals are fine. I did not dilute the bleach and thus there was no pink from the fas dpd test. Here are my observations. 1). Last night...

But I tested bleach straight from a fresh bottle. It's still clear in the 5 drop quick test and the fas dpd test after adding powder...

    What happened to my FC?

I have to admit that I test my pool sporadically, and so I am at a loss with my test results. All tests are done with tftest kit. This past saturday I tested the pool with the 5 drop quick test, and it was clear. Uh oh. I poured in a 182oz of 6% bleach, which according to pool calc will...

    Calcium level consistently dropping?

No I don't. I use a garden hose to add water when the water drops below the mid point of the skimmer. It takes a few days to a week after a fill before it drops below the line again, and it seems to be dependent on the temperature. It am fairly certain it's not the case of a noticeable leak...

    Calcium level consistently dropping?

I've owned my house with the pool for about 1.5 years. The pool had very old plaster and probably needs a replastering soon. I had been using BBB and testing my own water for about a year now. I opened the pool over the weekend and did the full TFTest for the first time in about 6 months. I...

The Zodiac "Barracuda" MX8 Suction Side Cleaner

Update after a year. I gave up on the MX8 today and bought a dolphin deluxe 4. It fails to get leaves and would get stuck all the time. I have little kids and I had installed a safety net over the pool. I am fed up with constantly having to undo the safety net to unclog the stupid thing...

    Help newbie with Mustard Algae

Day 3 Shock level maintained overnight at FC 24 with no CC. I did get into the pool yesterday (day 2) to give everything a good scrub, but I kept the kids out. (They got into a rubber boat and had me push it around the pool instead). Water got more clear over time. Hopefully this is it.

    Help newbie with Mustard Algae

Day 2 Passed OCLT! FC dropped maybe 0.5, CC 0, water looked clear. I noticed white sediment in the deep end of the pool. Since that is where I dumped in the cal hypo I thought it might be undissolved cal hypo. (used 8lbs so far). Now on second thought, can this be dead algae? Filter...

    Help newbie with Mustard Algae

Day 1 By my calculation, 4 lbs of 73% cal hypo yesterday should take my 20k gal pool up to around 18 FC. I didn't check last night because it would be inaccurate anyways since there wasn't enough time to throughly dissolve and mix. This morning the measurement was FC 14, CC <0.5 (very very...

    Help newbie with Mustard Algae

I had put in an automated pump to pump bleach into the pool. Well, the "downside" to the convenience factor is that I totally forgot about refilling the tank. Weather had been cold so we hadn't been using the pool. We were thinking about using the pool this weekend. Pulled off the solar...

The Zodiac "Barracuda" MX8 Suction Side Cleaner

I had run mine for about a month now. It does indeed get stuck sometimes on fibrous stringy materials. Sometimes it will be able to "chew it up" into smaller pieces, and sometimes it will just get it stuck. My work around for now is to run the skimmer at two different times of the day to...

Any problem with running peristaltic pump for short bursts?

Re: Any problem with running peristaltic pump for short burs I just got this installed yesterday. Ordered a 15gal drum but stenner sent me a 30gal. Oh well. Works just as well. I opened up the motor housing to switch out the electrical cord to connect to a relay in my Suntouch panel. The...

Any problem with running peristaltic pump for short bursts?

Re: Any problem with running peristaltic pump for short burs Cool, thanks. Yup I am only losing 1 right now, but it's still cold out (pool temp in the 60s) and not a lot of sun yet. I imagine that will change quickly as we go into the summer. But with the 2 hour high speed pump circuit I...

Any problem with running peristaltic pump for short bursts?

Re: Any problem with running peristaltic pump for short burs Thanks! Voodoo - I am running the VS pump for 2 hours in high speed and 9 hours in low speed to get 1 turn. The reason to run Stenner pump for 2 hours is to save electricity - at 0.9A x 220V it uses only about 200 watts, but at my...

Any problem with running peristaltic pump for short bursts?

Thanks to the help and suggestions I got here, I have finally narrowed down to peristaltic pump as the best option for my chlorine automation. SWG was a contender until wife tried a friend's salt water pool and didn't like the feel. Well, that was it. I plan on going with Stenner pump + tank...

What is the problem with short runtime?

In pool school the recommendation is to run the swg at least 8 hours a day. The problem is the high electricity rates in my area. The intellichlor power center uses 220 watts. At 8 hours and 0.4/kwh, it would cost $0.7 a day or $21 a month in electricity. Bleach is much cheaper in that case...

Liquidator for running pump schedules at different flow rate

In researching automated chlorine injection, I have narrowed it down to the lq or swg. My current pump schedule runs at high speed for 4 hrs, low speed at 9 hrs, and solar as needed. If I put in the lq, would I be able to deliver a consistent amount of chlorine? It would seem like I cannot do...

    Plumbing suggestion please

I want to install the intellichlor IC40, and I am hoping to get some suggestions on plumbing. The manual recommend 3ft distance from the heater, and 12 - 18 inches of straight pipe before the intellichlor. Please see the picture for my plumbing situation. A is 16 inches. B is 11 inches. C is...

Please recommend a new pool cleaner for a newbie

Everything is installed successfully. The MX-8 seemed to work well at 20-25gpm flow rate. It does a pretty good job climbing up walls - there were many instances where it went right up to the water line. It had problems getting on the steps in my pool. The sweep pattern looks pretty random...

How to plan for maintenance during trips / vacations?

Registering here is the best decision I made since I got my pool. Firing the pool store is the second best decision.

How to plan for maintenance during trips / vacations?

Thanks Jason. I am going to shock / use tabs for now, and think about various forms of automated chlorine addition later. They may pay for themselves quickly if I can avoid the expenses of fixing a green pool if I go away for 2 weeks.
