Getting a new union for Jandy salt cell..where?

So we have a cracked union with our salt cell. Where do I get a new one to replace it? Does it have to be specific to the Jandy PLC 1400? Just found it tonight, so shut down the pump. (Was running pump at night to cool pool off through solar, so will have to figure this out in the morning...

First time we have ever have algae when opening up....leave stains too-ugh!

Thanks again! I have been old school and don't have the app yet....been doing the Legacy calculator and then have my handy paper trail log......LOL However....I haven't tracked the CSI so much, so it might be time to upgrade my pool tech skills! I appreciate your help and expertise...

First time we have ever have algae when opening up....leave stains too-ugh!

Also....just for future reference....how high can CH go without being a problem? I have been using the pool calculator since 2011 and whenever I put in the test results it usually shows that I need to drain. I just have never done it until this year.

Thanks for the quick reply! FC--0.4 CC--0 pH--8.0 TA--130 CH--550 CYA--30 Salt--3.2 Sorry...I knew I should have added the water test results! Will the leaf stains go away after slamming and FC is at recommended levels?

First time we have ever have algae when opening up....leave stains too-ugh!

We opened our 8 year old inground pool today and unfortunately found algae and leave stains for the first time ever--on sun shelf and steps. After testing the water, we decided we needed to drain some as our calcium hardness was up to 550 (kept creeping up every year). So we are draining half...

CH keeps getting higher every year

Ahhh...THANK YOU everyone! Didn't know some of this...that's why I love this forum! so appreciate your brains!! I'll keep a close eye on the ph and TA.... If I continue to keep my ph at 7.2 and aerate with the splashing I should be good, correct?

CH keeps getting higher every year

According to our Albuquerque water authority details it gives 7.3 hardness for our particular district. Not sure what that means? Our TA is constantly high here, so I tend to keep the ph around 7.2 and let the splashing be the aeration to get the TA down to normal parameters. Right now it...

CH keeps getting higher every year

Hi. I keep a running record on an excel sheet of all my test measurements. This is our 3rd summer for our pool and we started out with a CH reading of 140 ppm and got it to the correct goal of 300. Every year it has crept up and now after opening we are at 450 ppm! How is that when we...

Closing a SWG pool with sunshelf and automatic safety cover.

Hi! New to closing as this was our first year with a pool. Have read through many posts about closing but haven't found the answer to our question concerning a 10" sunshelf and closing a pool with an automatic safety cover.---We have been told not to drain any of our water with the automatic...

    New build in ABQ

Yep...the water is incredible with all this heat. Once the heat started up earlier in the month it didn't take long to get the water to this lovely temperature---it's 86* and perfect! Just wish the wind would not crank up every afternoon... you will also be so happy to have the automatic...

I have read on this forum that 1000 rpm seems to be the most efficient....that being said, variables are abundant. We have our VS 3050 set @ 1200 rpm's for 12 hours. Has worked out well so far. This is our first year with the pool so still finding the "sweet" spots for most things. May...

    Sealing Pavers

We have pavers and a SWG system and I would say to definitely seal the pavers as the water leaves a little salt residue when it dries...nothing major but with the sealer it doesn't show as much. And, dirt, grime and grease do not stain the pavers if sealed...

    Ecostar and Air bubbles

Oh...and we run our pump at 1200 rpms (like you do jhalpinjr) for a 14 hour cycle. (did have it at 16 hours, but am trying some new timing) At any event, that speed seems to be the magic number for our size of pool and flow needed. It's interesting there are much lower speeds than the...

    Ecostar and Air bubbles

Thanks jhalpinjr...that's reassuring! I'm coming to a "safe" feeling that these pumps at low speed tend to have these air bubbles collect...yes, there may be a small air leak somewhere but it is often difficult to pinpoint exactly. As long as it doesn't ruin the pump or other equipment I am...

    Ecostar and Air bubbles

How do you know if you are getting air in the filter all the time? With the VS 3050 @ 1200 rpm's, the filter pressure gauge reads close to 0... We had the PB come out and look for a suction side air leak as we still get air pocket at top of pump basket and air bubbles every so often in the...

We did go with the robotic cleaner but I wish we wouldn't have gotten it and I would have liked to know how Hernandez likes to run their systems...Nestor trains you to run the robo cleaner in the pool all the time, but they usually use the Whisperflo 1.5 hp pumps and only run an 8 hour...
