Still chasing leaks... any other options to consider before digging out and replacing lines?

That would be great; why do you say that? If I'm sure that there's nothing leaking with the valve or the filter, I guess that just leaves the return lines or something I missed in the vinyl? I worry about problems with the suction lines because both times I've closed the pool for the winter...

Still chasing leaks... any other options to consider before digging out and replacing lines?

We've been fighting leaks since year 2 with our pool (currently in year 3) and I'm now suspecting poor winterizing has led to leaks in our suction lines. Current loss rates are approximately: Without pump running: 0.25" per day With pump running 8hr/day: 0.5" - 1" per day With pump running...

    Water leak - malfunctioning valve?

Connections are cemented and curing! I need to let it sit for a few hours and then I can turn everything back on. Can't wait! Fingers crossed that everything works smoothly and no leaks!

    Water leak - malfunctioning valve?

Thanks again! I've cut off that T-junction and freed the L for re-use. Got a bunch of PVC from the hardware store and I think my plan is Valve -> threaded adapter -> pipe -> union -> pipe -> elbow -> hose which leads to the return jets. That union suggestion was particularly great, as without...

    Water leak - malfunctioning valve?

Thanks! I've decided to replace our entire value for two reasons: After an hour of digging at the gasket, I could only get about 1/3 of it off; and apparently the valve handle is supposed to pop back up via the spring :) My assumption is that even if I could get the gasket replaced, the top...

    Water leak - malfunctioning valve?

Looks like a problem with the spider gasket: As long as the valve is drawing from the pump's input, a lot of water will leak into the return jets and a small amount will also leak through waste. I can't seem to get the spider gasket off of this housing though... almost as if it's kept in...

    Water leak - malfunctioning valve?

We've been fighting what I had assumed was evaporation all summer. I probably should have done a bucket test much sooner, but I confirmed this morning that our pool is leaking water. Symptoms: When our pump is in Filter mode, I can see a steady trickle of water coming out of our waste line...

SLAMing for 5 days, no improvement over the last 2-3

Thanks everyone, I've kept up with SLAM and I'm starting to make out the bottom of the shallow end. Probably just a few (or several) more days at it and I'll get there! We had a pretty bad thunderstorm a couple days ago. Lots of leaves and branches I needed to skim out, and we lost power for...

SLAMing for 5 days, no improvement over the last 2-3

Thanks! Yeah, everyone here was talking about how it was hotter than Florida! I've been testing every hour or two and have been diligent about keeping FC between 12 and 17 (or at least above 12). I have backwashed to the point where it's become time to fill the pool up again (I have to skim...

SLAMing for 5 days, no improvement over the last 2-3

Hello! My wife and I moved into a new house this year and now we are first-time pool owners! I encountered a lot of poor help from our local pool store but after discovering this community, our pool is looking relatively fantastic! We had a dark green swamp when we opened the pool and now...
