Losing prime everytime we turn off pump....

Simple O-Ring Fix, nice! If you don't already have one, you may want to install a check valve as well. Good luck.

What salt system for my setup?

I've seen all different brands mixed and matched. It should work just fine as long as it's installed correctly. Pick your poison.

    TA for a SWG pool

Re: Need advice on my numbers crossnelson's PH is at 7.0, and TA at 140 at his latest update. Imagine if your TA is as low as 60-70, that PH may wander off into the danger zone. I've taken over so many pools where the previous homeowner or pool guy stripped the plumbing and stained the pool...

    TA for a SWG pool

Re: Need advice on my numbers TA around 60-70 is too low in my book, but to each their own!

Just landed in the deep end...

Shh, don't knock the old pool guy myth, dangit! :) Haha... Very true, you have to be careful when using acid in Vinyl and Fiberglass pools.

Just landed in the deep end...

Have you guys ever encountered any pool surface damage related to pouring acid directly into the pool and not in front of a return line? Cause i haven't... weird. Like i said in my earlier post, lots of variables. Also column pouring is a beneficial method of introducing muratic acid into...

    TA for a SWG pool

Split off of this topic and moved to The Deep End. JasonLion Depending on how many gallons your pool is, and the quality of the Conditioner you're adding, you may need to keep adding CYA until it gets up to 60-70ppm. Keep checking it and add by the LB accordingly. A good place to keep your TA...

    SWG for above ground pool

Good choice in making the switch to good ole fashioned Chlorine. Well, salt=chlorine... :)

Just landed in the deep end...

Just note, it depends on the depth of the pool, where the return line is pointing to (towards or away from the Shallow end or steps), and how much Muratic Acid you're pouring. Lots of factors.

    lower TA with MA

Never let your TA get that low, as the others have stated. If your TA is 220 right now, in a 20k gallon pool, it should only take 2-3 gallons of MA to lower those numbers down. But keep an eye on the PH as you lower your TA.

Just landed in the deep end...

Yeah don't always trust the numbers the pool store gives you. If the person doing it messes up, adds a drop or two too much, or not enough, etc. You'll get tainted numbers. Best to test it yourself with your own kit for sure. And after you add that acid, hopefully you'll be able to lower your...

Amount of salt for start up

Sometimes if the Cell is dirty, your Salt System will keep reading low salt and not generate. Try cleaning it if you believe you have enough Salt in your pool. I'm not sure what salt level the Intex system is set to generate at. Most salt systems generate at a minimum salt level of 2700. And as...

Question: suction, pressure, or robotic for my situation?

Re: Question: suction, pressure, or robotic for my situation Robotic Cleaners can be a real hassle. I see so many Tiger Sharks sitting on the deck or in the equipment room not being used because of the hassle of having to plug it in, let it clean, then take it out, etc. If your pool gets a...

The Zodiac "Barracuda" MX8 Suction Side Cleaner

I have a couple cleaners from "The Pool Cleaners", and they perform well. Almost identical design. But something about the MX8s makes me think they're more durable and cheaper to replace parts on/repair.

    Why not to use Trichlor?

Either way is fine as long as you keep a steady Free Chlorine level. Right now your numbers are spot on. Use the Tablet feeder, just keep an eye on your Alk and PH, and of course your CYA will rise, and you'll be fine. As for me when i'm out in the field, most of my residential chlorine pools...

    Hayward Navigator issue

Hopefully that will fix your problem finally. Let us know! I have a couple Navigators in Pebble Tech Pools, and every year i have to replace the bottom plate, as well as the feet, wings, etc. as they get so grinded down by the Pebble finish. One Pebble pool i have is old and wasn't done well...

    Kreepy Krauler driving me nuts.....

Join the Kreepy frustration club. All kidding aside... Is your Kreepy installed in your skimmer or your wall suction? If it's in the skimmer, it could be an old faulty regulator valve. I've replaced those with success in fixing Kreepys. If your Kreepy goes directly into the wall suction, it...

    Pool Blaster Catfish

I own the Catfish's bigger brother, The Pool Blaster Max which i use frequently to clean ponds, waterfalls, and spas such as yours, and it works well in picking up small leaves, heavy dirty, and sand. It'll pick up fine dirt/dust in a couple slow passes as well. I've double bagged it with fine...

    Hayward Navigator issue

Navs have so many moving parts inside, you'd have to open it up and make sure the gears inside the gear box are all in good working order with nothing broken. If it's an old Navigator, sometimes it's more cost effective to just buy a new sweep instead of nickle and diming yourself to death...

The Zodiac "Barracuda" MX8 Suction Side Cleaner

Best Sweep made yet. I've installed several MX8s and i love these things. The large wheels and tracks allow it to move smoothly and not get stuck on main drain covers, it climbs walls, and the hoses which come with the MX8 are better quality and interlocking at each cuff. They seem to be built...

    After Rain Storm

Unfortunately if those things haven't been unscrewed from the wall for a while, the threads become almost frozen and if you can't unscrew it with channel locks, you've gotta break it to get it out!

At my wits end with Leslie's, hoping you can help

Be sure your filter is clean and filtering properly. All the proper chemical balancing in the world won't do a thing if your filter is dirty, thus the algae has nowhere to go.

    OLD Pool

Sounds like a nifty project you've got yourself. Can't go wrong with the Pentair pumps. But when you buy all your new equipment, check with the store to find out if there are benefits to running all of the same brand equipment. I know some places offer a longer/better warranty if you run all...

Adding DE...am I doing something wrong?

What type of DE filter do you have? Most likely a small tear in one of the grids, or a small crack in the manifold which may be hard to see. If it's a grid pack, be sure to completely take apart the whole thing to thoroughly check everything out.
