To SLAM or Not to SLAM... That is my Question (of the day)

Great point here Divin Dave. I'd rather not if it isn't necessary but might be worth peace of mind. I'll continue to watch FC levels over the next few days. Thanks again!

To SLAM or Not to SLAM... That is my Question (of the day)

Thanks Splashpad - perhaps you are right! I've never considered a skimmer sock. Is the idea here just to keep from having to clean the filter so often? I took it as a positive sign that there was so much yellow in the filter (meaning my system is working as expected).

To SLAM or Not to SLAM... That is my Question (of the day)

Thanks Texas Splash! I hope it is just pollen as you suggest, though I thought pollen would just float on the surface. I will definitely keep an eye on FC levels and SLAM if I see an overnight drop.

To SLAM or Not to SLAM... That is my Question (of the day)

Hi All, Thanks in advance for your help! Bottom line here is I need advice on whether or not a SLAM is needed/recommended. First some background: Thanks to you fine people, this amazing site, my TF-100 test kit, and of course Pool Math I've been managing my own chemistry since my pool was...

    Construction Underway in Orlando, Florida

Now that we're up and running (and loving EVERY MINUTE!)... I'd love to get some pool chemistry feedback if anyone is interested! I posted my numbers and questions over in the "Testing and Balancing Your Water" section as that's where it seemed most relevant. Any input is much appreciated...

New Pool Startup - Do I have the hang of this? PLEASE HELP!

Hello All! I Appreciate in advance any feedback/response you can offer. Just want to make sure I'm on the right track with my new pool and it's chemistry. As you can see from my build thread, we just completed our build and have had water in it for 2 weeks (Good thing Summers in Florida don't...

Thanks so much for the compliments and the NPC start up card reference Kim! As usual you are AWESOME! I have been brushing this thing, testing water, and cleaning this filter like a madman... I LOVE IT!! I've been doing well with the PH, TA, and CL levels... my test kit doesn't measure CYA or...

    Construction Underway in Orlando, Florida

Hi Poolbella! Absolutely! I've seen it called "Iridescent" and it's actually considered charcoal or black...but it doesn't look that way at all. It's the coolest effect! If you look at each individual tile you see Silver, or Gray, or Gold, ... but then when you step back and look at the...

    Construction Underway in Orlando, Florida

So it's been a couple of months since creating this build and my last post. Many times I've thought about getting on here to post progress pictures, but I just seem to have always thought "No! I'll wait until we get to the next step so I have more to write about, and the pictures will look...

    Construction Underway in Orlando, Florida

I will say this IS one benefit AND drawback to where on the course our house is... As a golfer myself I LOVE not having to buy golf balls ever again with a big bucket saved and 2-3 added per week! And as to the Fence, our original plan was to ONLY fence it. In addition to the privacy from...

Wow! Thanks Suz... sure appreciate your feedback. And know EXACTLY what you mean about it being nice to get to tiling stage in a 5 min read without having to go through page after page!! LOL! Great question here, and probably a funny (but common) story. So originally before we started we...

Thank you! Will do! - - - Updated - - - Thank you! Can't wait to see how it looks with tile and pavers! Also, any thoughts on where to locate pool/spa light switches? We aren't doing automation so will be controlled with wall light switches.

    Excited in Orlando!

Hey Everyone! Was directed to introduce myself as I've started my own pool build thread after reading so many helpful posts and threads here on TFP! I started this thread a little late in our build as I didn't come across this site until much later in the process than most. In my first post...

    Construction Underway in Orlando, Florida

Hello everyone! Unfortunately, I found this amazing site late in the game but have found it immensely helpful reading through several build threads over the last few days. Therefore, I'd like to post my currently-in-progress build, and get as much feedback as I can even though we're a bit later...

New Pool Construction Project in Houston: 2nd Time is a Charm

JayBauman - I know this is a few years old now, but following your pool build as it's similar to ours. We choose Wet Edge - Midnight Ocean too and would LOVE to see how it looks as the pictures and videos online are underwhelming. In the last pics you posted, the water color looked amazing...
