Pool Chlorine Level Keeps Dropping (Please help! Incurring astronomic costs in chemicals)

Sorry I meant to say it was 11, but that does not translate to exact FC as it would be 10.5. Thats why I said 10 - 11.

Pool Chlorine Level Keeps Dropping (Please help! Incurring astronomic costs in chemicals)

yes I realise this, but there was no FC loss overnight as the FC dropped down to around 10 - 11 from slam level of 24. It was still 11 in the morning. I tested CC a few days before this happened and 1 drop was enough to get it back clear for the CC. I can't remember the result after I tested no...

Pool Chlorine Level Keeps Dropping (Please help! Incurring astronomic costs in chemicals)

If I remember correctly it was 1 - 2 drops and then it was clear again. I think 0.5.

Pool Chlorine Level Keeps Dropping (Please help! Incurring astronomic costs in chemicals)

Just letting you know, I did another ONCL test with 10 ml pool water and it was 21 drops the evening after dark, and 21 drops in the morning. Hurrah!

Pool Chlorine Level Keeps Dropping (Please help! Incurring astronomic costs in chemicals)

It generally drifts down very little if no liquid chlorine is put in. If I miss a day, it drifts down from 24 (slam level) by maybe 5 - 8 points (to 18 - 20), but then again, I leave the chlorinator on during the day, as my pump stops working at night anyway.

Pool Chlorine Level Keeps Dropping (Please help! Incurring astronomic costs in chemicals)

I think I made an error in the FC calculation in the evening. I now recall it was 38 (not 36), which means it was 19 (not 18) and this morning was 34, which means it was 17 (an hour after the sun was up). That means it dropped by an FC of 2 not 1. CC was .5 or lower however. The pool has been...

Pool Chlorine Level Keeps Dropping (Please help! Incurring astronomic costs in chemicals)

So finally, it seems like we have done it! Phew, I didnt expect it to take so long to be honest (about 2 weeks or more). So last night I did the 10 ml FC test with only pool water and the result was 36 and this morning (albight a little after the sun came out) I did it again and it was 34. This...

Pool Chlorine Level Keeps Dropping (Please help! Incurring astronomic costs in chemicals)

It was not on the slam level due to having guests. It was 19 and in the morning it was 17. My slam level currently is 24.
  9. Q

Pool Chlorine Level Keeps Dropping (Please help! Incurring astronomic costs in chemicals)

Is it good if the FC overnight dropped only by 2 points?
  10. Q

Pool Chlorine Level Keeps Dropping (Please help! Incurring astronomic costs in chemicals)

So guys, I did the overnight chlorine loss test night before last. In the night it was 38 (we didnt mix the water then as the pump would have been on only an hour or so before) and then in the morning it was 34 drops (we mixed it with the pool stick for 10 min). So basically in the night it was...

Pool Chlorine Level Keeps Dropping (Please help! Incurring astronomic costs in chemicals)

I am going to do another ONCL test tonight. So let me double check this. I am going to be doing the test after the sun goes down with 10 ml of pool water, and each drop would be a half .5 of an FC? Then I will check it again tomorrow morning before the sun goes up the same way? I am going to use...

Pool Chlorine Level Keeps Dropping (Please help! Incurring astronomic costs in chemicals)

There is no thread, but I can still put a cap on it I think. Will look in the morning. Thank you I believe someone higher up in the thread said to mix together an equal, larger part of pool and tap water and then use 10 ml and each drop would then be 1 FC, but you think it would be better just...

Pool Chlorine Level Keeps Dropping (Please help! Incurring astronomic costs in chemicals)

Newdude, I think 20 ml is .5 FC, 10 ml is 1 FC (50 pool water, and 50 tab water). Unless you mean only the pool water? I dont understand but the Chlorine is always a few points lower in the morning and I have been on slam for over a week. I have checked and cleaned all the areas, and the pool is...

Pool Chlorine Level Keeps Dropping (Please help! Incurring astronomic costs in chemicals)

Sorry, I took 20 ml pool water and 20 ml tab rain water mixed it together in the glass bottle (the one for the other tests, not the chlorine glass), then I put a 10 ml sample from the larger amount I mixed together equally into the chlorine only glass where 1 drop is meant to be 1 FC. The test...

Pool Chlorine Level Keeps Dropping (Please help! Incurring astronomic costs in chemicals)

Hey guys so I did a 20 ml sample this morning and yesterday afternoon. The sun was already out for about an hour or so this morning. I clocked 24 yesterday (after sun was gone) and 22 this morning about an hour after the sun came up early in the day. I also took pictures of the pool drain pipe...

Pool Chlorine Level Keeps Dropping (Please help! Incurring astronomic costs in chemicals)

Exactly MD, it has no cover when I did the pool it was always open. I turned the valve at the end of it today and after one of the employees got a snake in from inside the pool to loosen whatever was in it up, quite a bit of brown green stuff came out for a few seconds when it was open. I closed...
  20. Q

Pool Chlorine Level Keeps Dropping (Please help! Incurring astronomic costs in chemicals)

Thanks MD, It is inside the pool and is the pool drain, basically an open 2 inch pipe going out from the bottom floor slab of the pool. It is about 5 - 10 feet if not more long and goes up to a valve (at the end of it, outside the pool walls) which you can open if you wanted to empty the pool. I...

Pool Chlorine Level Keeps Dropping (Please help! Incurring astronomic costs in chemicals)

Ok so I checked this afternoon around 4 pm and it was 26, I checked now after dark and it is 23.5. Just letting you all know. I just remembered that the outflow has a pipe inside the pool (which is not covered) going below the pool and out of it (it is quite long), I wonder how best to kill any...

Pool Chlorine Level Keeps Dropping (Please help! Incurring astronomic costs in chemicals)

Ok I checked now in the evening and after the SWC running since this morning it’s now at 26 FC, 6 points higher than this morning although I put 3 gallons of bleach inside after testing 20 this morning.

Pool Chlorine Level Keeps Dropping (Please help! Incurring astronomic costs in chemicals)

Yes, I even took out the pool lights literally and cleaned all the algae off, then put them back in. The pool was scrubbed every day really well. Wait I think I forgot one pool light in the lower pool, could this be it?
  24. Q

Pool Chlorine Level Keeps Dropping (Please help! Incurring astronomic costs in chemicals)

Ok so last night when I checked the level was only twenty (from 24) although I turned the SWC back on earlier in the day. Then this morning it was 16 so 4 points less than last night. It’s kind of weird as the night before it hardly went down from dusk till dawn. I put another 3 gallons of...

Pool Chlorine Level Keeps Dropping (Please help! Incurring astronomic costs in chemicals)

Ok so continue for an additional day or two and keep the chlorine at the level needed, which for me is now 24? Then, in two days or so, do the OCLT?
  26. Q

Pool Chlorine Level Keeps Dropping (Please help! Incurring astronomic costs in chemicals)

So I did a rough test last night, and it was 24 FC, and this morning it was the same. I think tonight I am going to check the overnight chlorine loss and then the combined chlorine. There is no visible algae in the pool at the moment.

I replaced both the cell and cable with an original autopilot cell and also autopilot cable. I took back out the new autopilot cable however after we realised it was the cell and not the cable. I believe the screen was showing the same thing before and after, however I could be wrong, maybe it...

Pool Chlorine Level Keeps Dropping (Please help! Incurring astronomic costs in chemicals)

Ok so my screen on the computer always reverts back to these funny numericals. When I unplug the 3 connectors behind and plug them back in (the last pic) then it’s fine again and a bit later or after a few days it changes back again and can’t be read properly once again. I managed to adjust the...
