Well it was a hole in the liner over where the ground was always wet, found it when I was brushing the walls.

    Leak Detection Theory, Assistance Please

Thanks for the insight. I don't have an underwater flash light, and when I did the dye test I already had the light out of the niche. After using the Pool Putty I didn't move the light for probably a week or two (it sat on the deck above), so I don't think it was messed up while the putty was...

    Leak Detection Theory, Assistance Please

Definitely not the multiport. I get the same water loss when the pump isn't running as when it's on (leading me to think it's structural). Also, the multiport waste out is plumbed to go to the left of the concrete pad.

    Leak Detection Theory, Assistance Please

Okay, so I opened the pool this year and (unlike last year when the pool was full) the water level was just below the top of the pool light (which is also about the same level as the horizontal portion of the step gasket). I did some testing and it didn't seem to go below that and so my initial...

    Diving Board Replacement/Epoxy

My thought was that the carriage bolt head would have to pull up that much more epoxy to fail vs. the threaded rod that could in theory just pull straight up. My next wondering is if I've got 1/2" x 6" 316 stainless steel threaded rod bolts with no head, how big a hole to drill? I saw an...

    Diving Board Replacement/Epoxy

So I have an older (late 80s or early 90s) SR Smith Diving Board, "SR-F92" (which doesn't exist on the internet") but it uses a 14x14 square jig (and kind of looks like the "Supreme" jump stand). In 2018 I converted the pool over to salt water. Having taken a look at the diving board it could...

Looking to upgrade Slide - Sources?

Dear Moderator: That wasn't a phone number, it was the SR Smith Model #. Besides, it's one digit too long to be an actual phone number. For those who can help, I'm looking for Model # 688-209-58124.

Looking to upgrade Slide - Sources?

Hi all! We are doing a pool renovation and expanding the concrete decking from 360SF to around 2,000 SF, and am also looking at bringing our current slide out of the 1990s. I'm pretty sure I want Turbo Twister, but was wondering if anybody in the forums has a connection where I could get...

    Pentair: EasyTouch vs. IntelliTouch

Maybe a silly question on some of this: Can the EasyTouch and ScreenLogic be mounted outside?

    Solar Panel Recommendation

Oh okay, cool. Yeah, let me know what he can do. A kit would be super. I will not be putting these on my roof, so some of that may not apply.

    Solar Panel Recommendation

Expansion capability is important as I'd like to get up to 100% of surface area (plenty of wide open sunny space here in my yard) and that way I don't have to spend all the money at once but could reap the benefits as I make the investment. I don't plan to dis-mount any panels from the racks...

    Solar Panel Recommendation

Okay, happy to go with 10' or 12' sheets. 12' preferred but could work with 10'. Was thinking 20' sheets would reduce the number of sheets/add-on panel kits, etc.

    Solar Panel Recommendation

Hello again! With the help of this forum I recently upgraded much of my equipment pad, added SWG, will add EasyTouch probably next year, and am now wanting to iron out the details of my future solar setup. I saw a lot of recommendations for the Solar Bear, but on the Fafco site I'm confused...

Running a pump 24/7 with SWG

All, thanks for the responses. Yes, it's a Pentair IC60. No heater. Will likely add solar in the next year or two. Jim, it's not the electricity for running the cell at night, it's the electricity for running the pump at a higher RPM/GPM. I don't believe in the turnover myth, I guess I just...

Running a pump 24/7 with SWG

Understand that flow switch won't open until a certain GPM (I think it's 20, and I have the VSF so I can set the schedule to be a certain GPM to make sure I know it will kick on/off), so I get that. Thought the cells were rated for a certain number of hours, so to keep it on (even if it's not...

Running a pump 24/7 with SWG

Okay, so recently moved from old Hayward 1HP to Intellflo VSF to save about $90/month in electricity as I like to run 24/7. We are on night rate electricity so want to run SWG at night (and pump at higher speed) to generate chlorine. The question I'm having is how to only have the SWG on at...

    Pentair: EasyTouch vs. IntelliTouch

Jim, I do have the Power Center, manufacture date in April 2017. Dirk, That's an interesting way of using the system. I guess I could say I didn't know what I didn't know, so knowing that what you've done is something I might like to do, I'll take that into consideration before...

Thanks Jim! If I already have the cell, I'm guessing you'd recommend a 520703?

    Pentair: EasyTouch vs. IntelliTouch

Hello All! Did some research by using the search bar for folks looking at the EasyTouch and IntelliTouch, but feel like each situation is different, so going to post anyway. Doing an upgrade on the pool as follows: Hayward 1HP Superpump -> Pentair Intelliflo VSF 011056 Hayward 210T Sand ->...

    New S300i

Well, I just pulled the trigger on a Dolphin S300i. Local dealer wanted $1,493 (plus tax, of course), and Marina Pool, Spa, and Patio was only $949 with free shipping. I thought that was crazy not to do it. Poolpartz has the Active 30i on refurb for $899 without the caddy, and by getting it...

    Inherited a Pool, Recommendations Requested

Going to stick with the current pump and filter for now, may add SWG later in the season or next year with a Load Center (Have to see if they ran all conduit or if it was a mix of conduit and direct-burial). Found out yesterday it's actually a 21st Century Pool as well. Thinking I'll add solar...

    Inherited a Pool, Recommendations Requested

Mark, No trees anywhere near the pool. Have a lot of open space to do a solar rack but am also considering a heat pump to extend the swimming season. What size do you think, was looking at 140k but with the smaller size than I had thought maybe 120k?

    Inherited a Pool, Recommendations Requested

Mark, That sounds spot on. Can't say as to the Cannon Pools & Spas piece but they're in Cortland so it's not improbable. Those measurements seem feasible although I haven't measured the depths. I do have 2 returns, one main drain and a skimmer. Just checked yesterday and it's all 1.5"...

    Inherited a Pool, Recommendations Requested

Jim, I get it now. And in running it slowly it uses less electricity would also be my guess. You indicated you had the "gold standard" for VS pumps. Is there a general consensus in the group as to the "gold standard" for a brand of automation? Pentair looks like they have done a lot on this...

    Inherited a Pool, Recommendations Requested

I just checked and discovered I have 2" plumbing, so pretty excited about that. I thought that a pump should be appropriately sized for the plumbing and filter. For example, my filter is good for 55GPM, 2" pipe is good for 55GPM, so it seems like I should have a pump that goes up to 55GPM, so...

Inherited a Pool with New House

Hi! This forum has been a wealth of information, and I'm very appreciative of it, so thanks for everyone's input! I recently purchased a house with a 16x36 inground pool (Never maintained a pool before) with a deep end, and I'm considering some upgrades. I currently have a single speed...
