    Keeping a cover/net lifted

I'm getting ready to close the pool, and want to keep the netting lifted in the center to help keep leaves out. I've heard people use beach balls for that, but it seems like durability would be a problem. Anyone have ideas for something tougher than a beach ball? Thanks

    SLAM questions

Thanks for answering, everyone :) > Why do you think that the SWG is broken? It's an Intex unit, 1 year old, and it's getting the low-salt warnings Intex is infamous for. Even after multiple cleanings, multiple salt-level checks, and reversing the polarity. The cells themselves are fine - it's...

    SLAM questions

Backstory: I got the pool mostly cleared up ... was just trying to finish dealing with a bunch of micro-particles. Then my SWG broke. And I didn't notice for at least a full day, maybe two. The pool had a bit of phos in it (300, not sure how bad that really is). Any, the result was a Green...

    "Clarifier" vs "Flocculant"

I've been reading around various places trying to educate myself on these. Some sites talk about clarifiers vs flocculants, other talk about "filter flocculants" and "sink-to-bottom flocculants". The terminology seems to be a mess. What I think I've figured out so far, please correct if I have...

    Help: Filtering out micro-particles

The water coming out of the sand filter is cloudy - obviously tons of with micro particles. So I bought flocculant (Super Water Clarifier from Home Depot) and followed the directions carefully. But 24 hours later there's only modest improvement. Is this expected? (The pool was in pretty bad...

Pump stops pumping after ~ 4 hours, backwashing resets it

Hi Jim, I did the deep clean, and it was gross, like you guessed. Reassembling it, there's an issue. It's an intex sf 80110. The vertical tube inside has vented 'feet' attached at the bottom. These were under the sand, but came up when I opened the filter. Now I have to get them back...

Pump stops pumping after ~ 4 hours, backwashing resets it

Thanks for all the replies... "So, the motor stays running and the output gets lower and lower or does the motor slow down to a stop?" - It stays running. "Do you have a pressure gauge?" - Yes. The pressure only goes up modestly. From about 8 to about 11. Into the low end of the yellow zone...

Pump stops pumping after ~ 4 hours, backwashing resets it

I have an Intex pump on an 18 ft above ground. The pool & pump are only 1 year old. When I turn the pump on, it works fine, but slowly pushes less and less water until about 4 hours in it's pushing almost nothing. Backwashing resets it. The backwash is a bit dirty, although not nearly as dirty...
