Stupid seal plate gasket doesn't fit

Ok, just to let everyone know, the two gaskets arrived and there's not one thing different between them except the black on has a "square" cross section and the almond one is shaped more like a pyramid with the "point" facing out. The almond one also has a hair taller cross section but other...

Stupid seal plate gasket doesn't fit

Well, I give up. I just ordered one of each! When they arrive I'll see what the difference is and let you know. Ed

Stupid seal plate gasket doesn't fit

This is too confusing. I used the PDF file I found on the Pentair site for the Whisperflo pump (see attached), and it says I need the almond gasket P/N 357102 (Note 15 for pools built 1-31-08 and prior). So what's the difference between the black gasket and the almond gasket??? Ed

Stupid seal plate gasket doesn't fit

To answer your questions, yes, I got the generic seal (never again!) and my original WFE-6 pump was built on July 6th, 2005 so I got the 357012. However, I had to buy a replacement seal plate, P/N 350202 a few years ago and it came with the almond gasket pre-installed. At this point I'm not...

Stupid seal plate gasket doesn't fit

James, I get paid this Friday and I promise I'll become a supporter. I'm not rich so it'll have to be the $30 membership but in the meantime, the ice method didn't work. The seal is just the same as before, so can I cut it and then seal the two edges with RTV gasket maker? Ed

Thanks guys. I'll give that a shot tomorrow. Ed

Stupid seal plate gasket doesn't fit

This may have already been answered so forgive me if it has, but I can't find it. My question is regarding the seal plate gasket. There are two types. The almond and the black. The gasket in there now is almond (pre 2008 which is what mine is) so I ordered an almond gasket to replace it. As you...

    Salt Cell Screen?

Well, now I'm not sure. Here's a picture of my plumbing. It's been this way since day one (20 years ago) when the pool was installed. Is it not correct? Ed

    Salt Cell Screen?

I see one for the AUTO PILOT systems, but I don't see anything available for my Hayward T-Cell-15, so one of you bright guys need to invent one!! I'll be your first customer because I just cleaned out my cell (AGAIN) and it had a lot of debris in it. Even though I have "socks" on the skimmer and...

Good point. And yes, if you happen to have the WaterGuru Sense S2, PLEASE chime in! Ed

    Smart pool monitors?

I've been doing more research (on Google and here) and I realize that apparently none of the systems out there are perfect, heck, even the systems at Leslie's vary between each other, but for someone like me that's color blind (and lazy), I think maybe the Waterguru SENSE S2 would be a good fit...

    Smart pool monitors?

Those are great for most people, but I'm REALLY colorblind so I have a difficult time with these kits. I was hoping for something that I could toss in the pool and receive the results on my cell phone. Ed

    Smart pool monitors?

Not sure this is the right area, but my 20 year old Aqua Rite Generator doesn't really give me a lot of information on what's actually going on in the pool. It really only tells me the salt level, voltage and current, so I'm always heading off to Leslie's pool to get a test. It's not a big deal...

    Not impressed

Ok, as an update, I purchased and installed the EVQ225 pump and, although I had to adjust the flow rate, it's working great. My vacuum scoots around like it used to with the old single speed pump so I can recommend this pump to replace any other single speed pump rated at 2.25HP. Ed

Best pool vacuum for the money?

NEVER MIND!! (At least for now) I started messing around with the valves and when I changed the "pool suction" valve, all of a sudden the vacuum took off! I'm SOOOO relieved! Ed

Best pool vacuum for the money?

I did a search but most of the threads regarding pool vacuums were kinda old so I thought I'd start fresh. And sorry to continually bug you guys but after installing my new EVQ225 variable speed pump a few days ago, the vacuum refuses to move and the pressure at the filter housing is only 12PSI...

    New problem

No, this is the original 20 year old gunnite and plaster. I'm now concerned that I'm going to have major problems with leaks. Is the cement under the plaster good enough to keep the pool from leaking? Ed

    New problem

If you've been following my saga with my DEAD POOL MOTOR, I've been putting a half gallon of 10 percent chlorine in the pool and jacuuzi each day until I can replace the motor. I just went out to add another half gallon and noticed this (see attached). This is on of the steps in the jacuuzi and...

So if I install a 073128 impeller on the EVQ165, will it move more water and up the pressure? Ed

It's too late now since I've already bought the EVQ225, but is it possible to change the impeller for one that's more efficient for this particular motor? Ed

    Not impressed

Well, either way I just bought the EVQ225 so hopefully in another few days it'll be back to where it was, 15PSI with water falling over the spillway and the vacuum moving at the right speed! By the way, I called Century (now called Regal Rexnord), but they no longer offer phone support. You have...

So let me understand this... 3450RPM is 3450RPM. It doesn't matter what pump it is, if it's 3450RPM it'll move X amount of water. So why doesn't my current EVQ165, running at 3450RPM move the same amount of water? I just don't understand. UNLESS... it's not really running at 3450RPM because...

The voltage is 244VAC and now it looks like I'll have to purchase a EVQ225!! I guess when my waterfall pump fails I can use the EVQ165 to replace it, so not a huge loss. Ed
