    Help selecting New Pump

Thank you, 1poolman1! Would you recommend also replacing the impeller? I see that there are a range of impellers based on HP. Since we would be going from a 2HP motor to 2.7HP VS motor, would the 2.5HP impeller be good to move to as well or would the current impeller work fine? Thanks

    Help selecting New Pump

We currently have a Hayward Super Pump 2HP (SP2615X20). We think it's over 15+ years old and is making very loud noises which we believe are the bearings. We are looking to replace because of the age. We have added a SWG and a heat pump in the past few years and I think that may increase our...

    Vinyl Replacement Cost

We need to replace the vinyl liner in our in-ground pool. Our area can tend to be more expensive than others but our pool is also fairly large, 33k gallons. Our current quote is for $6500 which includes: remove old water & liner, install 1/4" wall foam on the walls, smooth bottom, install new...

    Total Chlorine Unreadably High

I thinK I figured it out! I went to take the test again with 5mL and I got FC: 10. And I also noticed my powder was clumping. I *think* the powder wasn't fully dissolved when I did the test before. I did the test again with 10mL and also got FC 10. So it's all making more sense! Thanks all...

    Total Chlorine Unreadably High

I will try this. I've been using 10ml of water. And I've done 50 drops (so the FC is over 25). I'll try to 5mL next time and see if I can get an actual reading. Thanks!

    Total Chlorine Unreadably High

Yes we are using a 10ml water sample. And my husband thinks we added 8 jugs. So could it have possibly been higher (from the winter treatment) before we added the bleach because that doesn't seem to add up?

    Total Chlorine Unreadably High

We opened our pool 6 days ago. There was some visible algae around the edge but otherwise the water looked decent. Once we tossed in the polaris and it got hazy and cloudy, as expected. We dumped in liquid bleach to get things started. Last year we had an algae issue when we opened and it took...

When the winter cover was taken off and the filter was set up (after having an acid wash during the winter) last Tuesday (May 15), the pool guy did put chlorine pucks in the skimmer baskets (they dissolved completely in 12 hours). But only liquid chlorine since then. 8:20pm FC 4.5 CC 3 9:05pm...

I just retested the CYA and it think it may actually be closer to 40. Which would make my target FC 16, but I still haven't reached 16.

My husband actually tested at 5:45am FC 12 CC .5 (.5 ppm test) I tested at 8:45am FC 10.8 CC .4 (I did the .2ppm test so I think that's why the difference between 5:45 & 8:45) I pondered what to do but after my post from earlier, I decided to try to to continue to SLAM. I added the 4.5...

Thanks for the help!! I'll avoid that other word ;) So.. now I'm more confused. I calculated on PoolMath how much bleach I needed to get back to 20. Around 2:30pm I added 4.5 gallons of 10% bleach (based on my test results from this morning). I just went out to test my water to see if I...

We moved into our home last summer and the pool (about 15 years old) was already open and balanced. Toward the end of the summer our CYA levels were getting high... I can't remember exactly but I want to say over 140 which was concerning me. This year we paid to have the pool opened last...
