New build concrete pool - Northern NSW Australia

Slowly getting there. We'll be leaving the pool empty until handover of the house. Now I just need to choose all of the equipment. I'd like a pool controller that I can log into via an app. Looking at the various options from Zodiac/Jandy, Hayward etc.

New build concrete pool - Northern NSW Australia

A question for those in the know...am I able to leave my pool empty until construction of the rest of the house is complete, or do I need to get water into it ASAP? TIA Steve

We're not sure. Given that 6 out of 7 lines aren't holding pressure I suspect an auger went through them. Hard to tell and it's the work of the previous (sacked) builder so we just have to fix it and move on.

New build concrete pool - Northern NSW Australia

Update...the pool tiling is coming along and the external concrete has been honed. The tiler is away for a couple of weeks but once he gets back the negative edge of the weir will be tiled and the spillover tank rendered. Unfortunately we discovered this week that with the exception of the...

New build concrete pool - Northern NSW Australia

Update... Not long after my last post we sacked our builder. That has meant some delays as the site was shuttered until the new builder started a month ago. The concrete that forms the external area and pool coping was poured last week and will be honed next week. It's good to finally see some...

Can anyone offer advice on minimum curing time before we render and then tile the pool? Thanks in advance, Steve.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Riley, I haven't actually seen the pool as was out of the country. I've asked the builder to make sure he keeps it wet so...fingers crossed he listened. Thanks for the info re your pump. I've plumbed a seperate line for a heater and will definitely be getting...

New build concrete pool - Northern NSW Australia

Here's some updated pics. The pool was shotcreted yesterday and the spillover tank will probably be done next week. I was hoping that it would be done in one go but for some reason they decided upon doing it separately. The concrete slab that will form the external deck area and surround the...

New build concrete pool - Northern NSW Australia

Hi Kim, We haven't really given a lot of thought to the pool tiles as yet. A lot will depend on how much $$$ is left as we get towards the end of the build!! I don't know a lot (anything) about filters. What you're saying about erosion control is pertinent though so perhaps we're best off...

No problems with questions Kim! :p Re the plaster. At this stage we're planning on having the pool fully tiled, and that will be towards completion. I look forward to you saving me money! Next on my list is to choose the pool equipment/filtration system. I love gadgets so would like to...

New build concrete pool - Northern NSW Australia

That's a lot of questions! ;) The white fence is just a temporary construction fence with the builder's banner on it. I'll be putting in a permanent fence in the next few months. I did the retaining walls (with the help of an excavator) in January during my holidays. They're sandstone blocks...

New build concrete pool - Northern NSW Australia

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. The pics are up to date. I'll try to update as I go along. Our property boundary extends to the bottom of the hill so no one will be able to build out our view. In regards to the piers, they maxed out at 3m deep. Here's another pic which gives a better...

New build concrete pool - Northern NSW Australia

Hi all, We're in the process of building a new pool to go with our new house which is also under construction. The entire build is being done as cost+ rather than fixed price so although it's not owner builder, I'm fairly involved. When I'm not at my other job I'm spending a lot of time on...
