Sand filter do not filter out small items like a cartage filter does. In order from largest partical to smallest it goes sand, cartage, and then DE. Why are you wanting to try out a sand filter?

I went travertine pavers. In Texas concrete turns into a frying pan real quick. I paid around $17 per sf installed if I remeber correctly. It may have been a little less.

If you can't put a skimmer on the other end then push the pool in a foot so you can. Keep in mind that you will be spinding more time out of the pool than in it.

That is for bonding. My current build has the same thing. At some point they will tire copper wire to them all and then drive in a grounding rod.
