Bleach, Chlorine Tablets, and Pristine Blue (Oh My!)

Home Depot has the best prices on everything that I've found. And trust me, I've looked at pool stores (which are ALWAYS the most expensive), Target, Walmart, Lowe's, Home Depot, etc. Liquid chlorine 10% is a crate of 3 gallons for 9.98. Walmart also has a decent price, around 3.50 a gallon for...

Shock Level once SLAM is in clear water stage?

Thank you! I've been using mustard algae level the whole time - since it wasn't specified in Pool School/ SLAM directions. (Or did I miss it?) How do I know when the end of my SLAM is to start that 24 hours? Is it when the SLAM is totally finished? CC <0.5ppm, OCLT <1.0ppm, and crystal clear...

Shock Level once SLAM is in clear water stage?

Hi friends! Been SLAMing my pool per the Pool School and SLAM rules - and it's doing great (of course.) I had a dark green swamp of mustard algae. 4 days and a lot of bleach and brushing later, my pool is ALMOST crystal clear, and FC level is going down by 3-4ppm every time I check (usually...

Crack in In-Line Chlorinator & Bubbles in Returns

Will post a picture of everything when I get home from work - in about 6 hours. But I'm 100% positive it's on the return side - It's installed into the return line that comes right out of the sand filter. All I have is two in-lines (one main drain line, one skimmer line) that join together...

Crack in In-Line Chlorinator & Bubbles in Returns

Also, I will say I noticed that when I turned the pump back on, it did squirt a little water out at first - and then nothing. And it almost sounds like air is leaking OUT of the cracks in the chlorinator? Is that a possibility? I still have no clue how much the water actually fills up the feeder...

Crack in In-Line Chlorinator & Bubbles in Returns

Re: Crack in In-Line Chlorinator & Bubbles in Returns Here are the pictures of the cracks. Worth replacing, or should I try to seal it off with a waterproof silicone sealant?

Crack in In-Line Chlorinator & Bubbles in Returns

The tab is still in tact - there are two hairline cracks in the actual chlorinator itself - looking from the inside, you can see through the cracks. Would take a picture, but I'm SLAMing and don't want to to turn the filter off. The part that keeps getting me is everyone says "usually" from a...

how does debris get in the pump filter

My thought would be maybe it gets in when you remove the skimmer basket/ sock. Even if you turn off your pump, I would think some debris can still be sitting in the water in the skimmer (I know it does in mine) and when you put in the new basket/sock it can push a little down into the skimmer...

Crack in In-Line Chlorinator & Bubbles in Returns

Re: Crack in In-Line Chlorinator & Bubbles in Returns I'm wondering if it is causing it because it is at the very top of the chlorinator? It's definitely cracked - no doubt about it. Two good vertical one-inch hairline cracks on the feeder where the lid screws on. There is no water...

Crack in In-Line Chlorinator & Bubbles in Returns

mknauss "You do realize that you can not SLAM pool water with trichlor, right?" Yep! I have the chlorinator turned all the way to minimum (which might be off - but there is no word "off"). I am just using 10% bleach to shock - and using pool calculator and testing every few hours. :)

Crack in In-Line Chlorinator & Bubbles in Returns

Hi friends. I JUST bought a 9lb. in-line chlorinator from Leslie's (they didn't carry Hayward - and they looked to be pretty much the same thing. Let me know if I'm wrong.) While trying to open it (before I noticed there was a tab to press to allow the cap to turn), I heard a crack - but...
